Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Contents Convergence Promotion Agency has been selected for the third consecutive year for the '2026 Regional-based Webtoon Artist Development Project' organized by the Korea Creative Content Agency.
With this selection, the agency will carry out the project for three consecutive years starting from 2024, securing a total project budget of 300 million won, including 150 million won in national funds and 150 million won in provincial funds.
As a result, the agency plans to select 12 prospective and established webtoon artists in the Jeonbuk region to provide support such as one-on-one mentoring with current webtoon artists and producers, capacity-building education, participation in webtoon exhibitions, corporate visits, and business consultations.
The agency expects that this project will strengthen the foundation for nurturing local webtoon talents, enhance the creative capabilities of regional artists, and activate the webtoon industry ecosystem in Jeonbuk.
Director Kim Sung-kyu stated, "We will strengthen support to enable local webtoon creators to acquire practical skills and enter the industry," adding, "We will strive to expand the scope of the Jeonbuk webtoon industry and create a sustainable creative ecosystem."
전북콘텐츠융합진흥원, 웹툰작가 양성 사업 3년 연속 선정
전북특별자치도 콘텐츠융합진흥원이 한국콘텐츠진흥원이 주관하는 ‘2026년 지역기반형 웹툰작가 양성 사업’에 3년 연속 선정됐다.
진흥원은 이번 선정으로 2024년부터 3년 연속 해당 사업을 수행하게 됐으며, 올해 국비 1억5000만원과 도비 1억5000만원 등 총 3억원의 사업비를 확보했다.
이에 따라 진흥원은 전북 지역 예비·기성 웹툰작가 12명을 선발해 현직 웹툰 작가와 PD의 1대1 멘토링, 역량강화 교육, 웹툰 전시회 참관, 기업 견학 및 비즈니스 상담 등을 지원할 계획이다.
진흥원은 이번 사업이 지역 웹툰 인재 양성 기반을 강화하고, 지역 작가들의 창작 역량 향상과 전북 웹툰 산업 생태계 활성화에도 도움이 될 것으로 기대하고 있다.
김성규 원장은 “지역 웹툰 창작자들이 실질적인 역량을 갖추고 산업 현장에 진출할 수 있도록 지원을 강화하겠다”며 “전북 웹툰 산업의 저변 확대와 지속가능한 창작 생태계 조성에 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.
