EBS announced on the 13th that the effectiveness of reducing private education expenses through public education-based learning content has been confirmed.
According to the comprehensive analysis of the '2025 Private Education Expenses Survey for Elementary, Middle, and High School' by EBS and the related research reports from Sungkyunkwan University and Hongik University, it was found that EBS high school lectures and middle school premium courses showed significant effects in reducing the dependence on private education and cutting private education expenses.
According to the '2025 EBS High School Lecture Private Education Expense Reduction Study,' the estimated annual reduction in private education expenses due to EBSi usage was approximately 1.7488 trillion won. This accounts for about 30.74% of the total private education expenses for high school students. The number of EBSi lecture usages increased by 8.8% to about 281.7 million in 2025 compared to the previous year, and the satisfaction rate for video lectures was high, ranging from 86.5% to 94.9% for students and 80.8% to 92.5% for teachers.
The 'EBS Middle School Premium' targeting middle school students also showed a reduction in private education expenses. According to the related research, students who discontinued private education by using the service were found to have reduced their monthly average private education expenses by 316,000 won, which amounts to approximately 468 billion won annually when extrapolated to the entire scale. The satisfaction rate for the middle school premium courses increased by 4.3 points to 90 points compared to the previous year, and the number of course usages also increased by 35.23% to about 69.71 million.
EBS evaluated that the public education-based content is contributing to easing the burden of private education, aligning with the recent trend of decreasing participation and expenses in private education.
EBS plans to continue expanding lectures, textbooks, and online learning services, as well as developing content that reflects changes in educational policies and exam trends. This year, they plan to produce around 12,000 new high school courses and about 9,000 new middle school courses, and also advance the enhancement of the AI-based learning support service 'AI Button.'

EBS가 공교육 기반 학습 콘텐츠를 통한 사교육비 경감 효과가 확인됐다고 13일 밝혔다.
EBS가 ‘2025년 초중고 사교육비 조사 결과’와 성균관대·홍익대의 관련 연구보고서를 종합 분석한 결과, EBS 고교강의와 중학프리미엄이 사교육 의존도 완화와 사교육비 절감에 의미 있는 효과를 보인 것으로 나타났다.
‘2025년 EBS 고교강의 사교육비 경감 효과 연구’에 따르면 EBSi 이용에 따른 연간 사교육비 경감액은 약 1조7488억 원으로 추정됐다. 이는 전체 고등학생 사교육비의 약 30.74%에 해당하는 규모다. EBSi 강의 이용 건수는 2025년 2억817만여 건으로 전년보다 8.8% 증가했으며, 동영상 강의 만족도도 학생 86.5~94.9%, 교사 80.8~92.5%로 높게 나타났다.
중학생 대상 ‘EBS 중학프리미엄’도 사교육비 절감 효과를 보였다. 관련 연구에 따르면 서비스를 이용해 사교육을 중단한 학생은 월평균 31만6000원의 사교육비를 줄인 것으로 조사됐으며, 이를 전체 규모로 환산하면 연간 약 4680억 원 수준이다. 중학프리미엄 강좌 만족도는 90점으로 전년보다 4.3점 상승했고, 강의 이용 건수도 6971만여 건으로 35.23% 늘었다.
EBS는 최근 사교육 참여율과 사교육비가 모두 감소한 흐름과 맞물려 공교육 기반 콘텐츠가 사교육 부담 완화에 기여하고 있다고 평가했다.
EBS는 앞으로도 강의와 교재, 온라인 학습 서비스를 확대하고, 교육정책 변화와 출제 경향을 반영한 콘텐츠 개발을 지속할 계획이다. 올해는 고교 신규 강좌 약 1만2000편, 중학 신규 강좌 약 9000편을 제작하고, AI 기반 학습 지원 서비스 ‘AI 단추’ 고도화도 추진할 예정이다.
