On the 3rd, Jeonju City held a groundbreaking ceremony for the 'Jeonju City Food Integrated Support Center' and the 'Jeonju City Agricultural Product Comprehensive Processing Support Center' at the Dododong site.
The groundbreaking ceremony on that day is seen as a signal marking the full-fledged start of the city's key project, 'Creating Future Agricultural Clusters,' which aims to secure essential facilities for distribution and processing of local agricultural products, leading to the industrialization and enhancement of competitiveness in the local agriculture sector.
The 'Jeonju City Food Integrated Support Center' is planned to be constructed at 491-4 Dododong by 2027, with a total project cost of 9 billion won, including 15.6 billion won in national funds and 1 billion won in local funds. The center will be a two-story building with a total floor area of 2936 square meters, equipped with cold storage, packaging facilities, logistics spaces, and will function as an integrated logistics hub. By relocating and expanding the current public food support center located within the World Cup Stadium, the center will play a key role as the 'Jeonju Food' core platform, supplying safe local agricultural products for school meals and public food services.
On the other hand, the Agricultural Product Comprehensive Processing Support Center will be constructed at 488-2 Dododong with a total project cost of 2.468 billion won. The one-story center with a total floor area of 411 square meters will be equipped with processing facilities and an educational space following HACCP standards. Scheduled to open in the first half of next year, this center will support farmers in developing and selling various processed products such as jams, juices, and powders from agricultural products they produce directly, thereby increasing the added value of agricultural products and promoting the industrialization of agriculture.
The city expects that the establishment of these two centers will complete the food circulation structure connecting 'production-processing-distribution-consumption,' which will not only increase farmers' income but also significantly contribute to local economic revitalization.
Yoon Dong-wook, Acting Mayor of Jeonju, said, "The two support centers breaking ground today will provide citizens with safe and fresh food and offer farmers a core infrastructure for creating new income sources." He added, "We will concentrate our administrative capacity to ensure that the facilities are completed smoothly and firmly establish themselves as a reliable support system for the agricultural field."
먹거리통합지원센터·농산물종합가공지원센터 건립 ‘첫 삽’
지역 농산물의 생산·가공·유통 잇는 ‘미래 도시농업 클러스터’ 핵심 기반 구축 본격화
전주시가 3일 도도동 부지에서 ‘전주시 먹거리통합지원센터’와 ‘전주시 농산물종합가공지원센터’의 공동 착공식을 가졌다.
이날 착공식은 시가 역점 추진하는 ‘미래 농업 클러스터 조성’ 사업의 본격적인 출발을 알리는 신호탄으로, 지역 농산물의 유통·가공 핵심 시설 확보를 통해 지역 농업의 산업화와 경쟁력 강화를 이끄는 전환점이 될 것으로 기대된다.
‘전주시 먹거리통합지원센터’는 도도동 491-4번지 일원에 오는 2027년까지 국비 15억6000만 원과 도비 10억 원을 포함해 총 90억 원의 사업비가 투입돼 지상 2층, 연면적 2936㎡ 규모로 건립될 예정이다.
먹거리통합지원센터는 저온저장고와 소분·포장시설, 물류 공간 등을 갖춘 통합 물류 거점으로 기능하게 되며, 현재 월드컵경기장 내 위치한 공공급식지원센터를 이전·확대 운영함으로써 학교급식과 공공급식 전반에 안전한 지역 농산물을 공급하는 ‘전주푸드’ 핵심 플랫폼 역할을 수행하게 된다.
또한 농산물종합가공지원센터의 경우 도도동 488-2번지 일원에 총사업비 24억6800만 원을 투입해 지상 1층, 연면적 411㎡ 규모로 건립된다.
HACCP 기준을 적용한 가공시설과 교육장을 갖추고 내년 상반기 개관 예정인 이 센터는 농업인이 직접 생산한 농산물을 잼과 주스, 분말 등 다양한 가공 상품으로 개발·판매할 수 있도록 지원함으로써 농산물 부가가치를 높이고 농업의 산업화를 촉진하는 역할을 맡게 된다.
시는 두 센터의 건립을 통해 ‘생산-가공-유통-소비’로 이어지는 먹거리 선순환 구조가 완성돼 농가 소득 증대는 물론 지역 경제 활성화에 큰 도움이 될 것으로 기대하고 있다.
윤동욱 전주시장 권한대행 부시장은 “오늘 첫 삽을 뜨는 두 지원센터는 시민에게는 안전하고 신선한 먹거리를 제공하고, 농업인에게는 새로운 소득 창출 기반을 제공하는 핵심 인프라가 될 것”이라며 “시설이 차질 없이 완공되어 농업 현장의 든든한 지원군으로 자리매김할 수 있도록 행정 역량을 집중하겠다”고 말했다.
