On the morning of March 19, in front of the U.S. Embassy in Seoul, the Labor Party, Green Party, and Justice Party jointly held a 'Trump and U.S. Imperialism Condemnation Party Conference'.
On this day, representatives and members of the Labor Party attended the conference together, where the co-chair of the Labor Party, Goyumi, strongly criticized the imperialistic actions of the Trump administration.
From Palestine to Cuba... "The Rampage of U.S. Imperialism"
Goyumi, the co-chair, meticulously examined the international situation since Trump took office. He mentioned that over 50,000 people have died in Palestine, U.S. special forces entered Venezuelan territory and forcibly kidnapped President Maduro, and hundreds of students died in Iran when a bomb fell on an elementary school. He also pointed out that due to the U.S. economic blockade, Cuba experiences nightly blackouts, leading to emergency patients in hospitals losing their lives due to power outages.
The representative raised his voice by mentioning the case of five-year-old Mohamad in Palestine, who was shot in the head and killed while returning from a family outing, stating, "Not seeing people as people, but considering the land they have lived on as their own, this is imperialism."
"Iran Deployment Request Must Be Firmly Rejected"
At the conference, the three parties strongly opposed the Trump administration's pressure on allied countries, including Korea, to deploy troops to Iran. The representative stated, "Italy, Spain, Japan, Germany, Canada, Australia, and even China have refused deployment," emphasizing that it is the first time in history that allied countries have collectively rejected involvement in U.S.-initiated wars. He further urged the Korean government to firmly reject the deployment request to Iran.
"Korea's Complicity Issue... Demands to Halt Weapon Exports and Gas Field Projects"
The three parties criticized Korea for not being free from this issue. They pointed out that Korean companies are exporting excavators and weapons used to kill Palestinians, and that Dana Petroleum, a 100% subsidiary of the Korea National Oil Corporation, is involved in the gas field plunder project in Gaza. They also criticized the promise made by the Jae-myung government to invest 500 trillion won in the U.S.
The Labor Party demanded that the Korean government ▲halt the export of weapons and military equipment related to Palestine ▲withdraw from the Gaza gas field project ▲reject the deployment request to Iran.
"We Must Change the System"... Appeal for Anti-Imperialist Solidarity
At the end of his speech, the representative emphasized the need for a fundamental transformation of the capitalist system, stating, "The system that produced politicians like Trump is the bigger problem." He said, "If we do not address the capitalist system itself as a problem, the invasion wars of superpowers will continue to repeat."
The Labor Party mentioned that currently more than 50 solidarity organizations in 19 countries worldwide are actively opposing the U.S. economic blockade on Cuba, stating, "We support the solidarity of people around the world, and progressive parties will also join the wave of this solidarity."
노동당·녹색당·정의당, 팔레스타인 학살·이란 침공·베네수엘라 납치 등 규탄… 이란 파병 거부 촉구
진보 3당, 주한미국대사관 앞에서 "트럼프·미제국주의 규탄" 공동 정당연설회
지난 3월 19일 오전 11시, 서울 주한미국대사관 앞에서 노동당·녹색당·정의당 3당이 공동으로 '트럼프·미제국주의 규탄 정당연설회'를 개최했다.
이날 연설회에는 노동당 대표단과 당원들이 함께 참석했으며, 고유미 노동당 공동대표가 연단에 서서 트럼프 2기 행정부의 제국주의적 행보를 강도 높게 비판했다.
팔레스타인부터 쿠바까지… "미제국주의의 폭주"
고유미 공동대표는 트럼프 취임 이후 국제정세를 조목조목 짚었다. 팔레스타인에서 5만 명 이상이 목숨을 잃었고, 미국 특수부대가 베네수엘라 영토에 진입해 마두로 대통령을 강제 납치했으며, 이란 초등학교에 폭탄이 떨어져 학생 수백 명이 사망했다고 밝혔다. 또한 미국의 경제봉쇄로 쿠바에서는 매일 밤 정전이 이어지며 병원 응급 환자들이 전기 부족으로 목숨을 잃고 있다고 지적했다.
고 대표는 팔레스타인에서 다섯 살 소년 모하마드가 가족과 나들이를 마치고 돌아오다 머리에 총을 맞아 숨진 사례를 언급하며 "사람을 사람으로 보지 않고, 그들이 살아온 땅을 제것처럼 여기는 것, 이것이 제국주의"라고 목소리를 높였다.
이란 파병 요청 단호히 거부해야
연설회에서 3당은 트럼프 행정부가 한국을 포함한 동맹국들에 이란 파병을 압박하고 있는 상황에도 강하게 반발했다. 고 대표는 "이탈리아, 스페인, 일본, 독일, 캐나다, 호주, 중국까지 파병을 거부했다"며 "미국이 벌인 전쟁에 동맹국들이 일제히 거부한 것은 역사상 처음"이라고 강조했다. 이어 "한국 정부는 이란 파병 요청을 단호히 거부해야 한다"고 촉구했다.
한국의 공모도 문제… 무기 수출·가스전 사업 중단 요구
3당은 한국 역시 이 문제에서 자유롭지 않다고 비판했다. 한국 기업들이 팔레스타인인을 죽이는 굴착기와 무기를 수출하고 있으며, 한국석유공사의 100% 자회사인 다나패트롤리엄이 가자 지구 가스전 수탈 사업에 참여하고 있다는 점을 지적했다. 또한 이재명 정부가 500조 원을 미국에 투자하겠다고 약속한 것도 비판의 도마 위에 올렸다.
노동당은 한국 정부에 ▲팔레스타인 관련 무기·중장비 수출 중단 ▲가자 가스전 사업 철수 ▲이란 파병 요청 거부를 요구했다.
"체제 자체를 바꿔야"… 반제국주의 연대 호소
고 대표는 연설 말미에 "트럼프 같은 정치인을 만들어낸 체제가 더 큰 문제"라며 자본주의 체제 자체에 대한 근본적 변혁의 필요성을 역설했다. 그는 "자본주의 체제 자체를 문제 삼지 않으면 강대국의 침략 전쟁은 계속 반복될 수밖에 없다"고 말했다.
노동당은 현재 전 세계 19개국 50개 이상의 연대단체가 미국의 쿠바 경제봉쇄에 맞서 활동 중인 사실을 언급하며 "전 세계 인민들의 연대를 지지하고, 진보정당들도 그 연대의 물결에 함께하겠다"고 밝혔다.
