On the 11th, the Jeonju Agricultural Technology Center held an opening ceremony for the urban agriculture experiential farm "Dorandoran," a citizen-participatory urban agriculture hub, and officially began its operation.
The opening ceremony was held to coincide with the statutory holiday "Urban Agriculture Day," and around 150 members of the experiential farm and urban agriculture officials attended. The event proceeded with the declaration of the opening, speeches, guidelines for operation, drawing of plot locations, and crop planting education.
The Agricultural Technology Center operated farm tours and plot activities together to help participants easily understand how to use the facilities and the future direction of operation. They also made it easier for citizens who are new to agriculture to start plot activities without feeling burdened.
"Dorandoran" is a space created for citizens to experience the value and joy of agriculture by touching soil and growing crops in their daily lives. The Agricultural Technology Center plans to expand urban agriculture as a citizen-participatory lifestyle culture through the experiential farm, strengthening a local-based foundation that combines education and community activities.
Moreover, they plan to provide seasonal basic farming education six times a year for members of the experiential farm. In May, they will also open an "Ecological Sensory Garden" where agriculture and nature are learned using all five senses - sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste.
An official from the Jeonju Agricultural Technology Center said, "Dorandoran is a space where citizens can cultivate crops themselves and experience the value of agriculture and the importance of community together," adding, "We will operate various educational and experiential programs effectively so that anyone, from beginners to families, can easily participate."
전주시, 도시농업 체험농장 ‘도란도란’ 개장…시민 참여형 농업공간 본격 운영
전주시농업기술센터가 11일 시민 참여형 도시농업 거점공간인 도시농업 체험농장 ‘도란도란’ 개장식을 열고 본격 운영에 들어갔다.
이날 개장식은 법정기념일인 ‘도시농업의 날’에 맞춰 진행됐으며, 체험농장 회원과 도시농업 관계자 등 150여 명이 참석했다. 행사는 개장 선언, 축사, 운영 규칙 안내, 텃밭 위치 추첨, 작물 식재 교육 순으로 진행됐다.
농업기술센터는 농장 관람과 텃밭 활동을 함께 운영해 참여자들이 이용 방법과 향후 운영 방향을 쉽게 이해할 수 있도록 했으며, 농업을 처음 접하는 시민들도 부담 없이 텃밭 활동을 시작할 수 있도록 도왔다.
‘도란도란’은 시민들이 일상에서 흙을 만지고 작물을 기르며 농업의 가치와 즐거움을 체험할 수 있도록 조성된 공간이다. 농업기술센터는 체험농장을 거점으로 도시농업을 시민 참여형 생활문화로 확산하고, 교육과 공동체 활동이 어우러지는 지역 밀착형 기반을 강화할 계획이다.
또 체험농장 회원을 대상으로 올해 1년간 6회에 걸쳐 시기별 기초 농사교육을 제공할 예정이다. 오는 5월에는 시각·청각·촉각·후각·미각 등 오감을 활용해 농업과 자연을 배우는 ‘오감 이야기 생태텃밭’도 개장한다.
전주시농업기술센터 관계자는 “도란도란은 시민들이 직접 작물을 가꾸며 농업의 소중함과 공동체의 가치를 함께 느낄 수 있는 공간”이라며 “초보자부터 가족 단위 시민까지 누구나 쉽게 참여할 수 있도록 다양한 교육과 체험 프로그램을 내실 있게 운영하겠다”고 말했다.
