On the 10th, Suncheon County announced the official start of the farming season by conducting the first rice planting of the year in Pungsan-myeon.
The rice variety planted this time is 'Haedam rice,' which aims to adapt to climate change by advancing the planting time compared to the usual rice planting season and targeting early harvesting.
The county plans to sequentially complete rice planting until late June following this first planting. Additionally, they are implementing joint pest control support projects for rice and beans in collaboration with local agricultural cooperatives, investing 2.3 billion won. They are also promoting self-pest control medication support projects, prioritizing the participation of local farmers in pest control operations to promote the circulation of the local economy.
Furthermore, since March, the county has been carrying out proactive support projects such as operating hot water sterilizers, providing seedling box treatments for rice seedlings, and supporting trace elements for preventing rice seedling blight to ensure stable rice production.
A Suncheon County official stated, "Despite challenging conditions such as climate change, we will spare no effort in providing practical support so that farmers can dedicate themselves to producing high-quality rice without worries."
순창군, 풍산면서 올해 첫 모내기…본격 영농철 돌입
순창군이 10일 풍산면에서 올해 첫 모내기를 실시하며 본격적인 영농철의 시작을 알렸다.
이번에 심은 벼는 조생종인 ‘해담벼’로, 일반적인 모내기 시기보다 이앙 시기를 앞당겨 기후 변화에 대응하고 조기 수확을 목표로 하고 있다.
군은 이번 첫 모내기를 시작으로 오는 6월 하순까지 순차적으로 모내기를 마무리할 계획이다. 또 23억 원의 예산을 투입해 지역농협과 협력하는 벼·콩 공동방제 지원사업과 자가 방제 약제 지원사업을 추진하고, 관내 농업인을 방제 작업에 우선 참여시켜 지역경제 선순환도 도모하고 있다.
이와 함께 군은 안정적인 쌀 생산을 위해 지난 3월부터 온탕소독기 운영, 벼 육묘상 상자처리제 지원, 깨씨무늬병 예방 미량요소 지원 등 선제적인 지원사업도 펼치고 있다.
순창군 관계자는 “기후 변화 등 어려운 여건 속에서도 농업인들이 안심하고 고품질 쌀 생산에 전념할 수 있도록 실질적인 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 말했다.
