The 'Microbial Utilization and Agricultural Product Safety Analysis Education' being promoted by the Namwon Agricultural Technology Center is receiving positive responses from local farmers.
The Agricultural Technology Center conducts regular education sessions on the first Wednesday of every month in the first half of the year and bi-monthly in the second half, actively promoting eco-friendly agriculture. Currently, the center supplies over 700 tons annually of seven types of beneficial agricultural microbes, including BM activated water, photosynthetic bacteria, lactic acid bacteria, yeast bacteria, chlorella, BT, and actinomycetes.
Microbes are provided free of charge at two locations, taking into consideration regional accessibility. The Agricultural Technology Center (Ibaek-myeon) operates every Monday afternoon, while the Agricultural Machinery Rental Business Office (Inwol-myeon) operates every Thursday afternoon.
The supply is targeted towards farmers who have completed relevant education, and they can receive the microbes bi-weekly through prior application and reservation. Farmers must prepare their own containers and adjust the dilution concentration according to the crop growth stage when applying or irrigating.
Kim Heung-soo, a guide at the Namwon Agricultural Technology Center, stated, "Beneficial microbes have a significant impact on crop growth and livestock environment improvement when used continuously," and added, "As they also help in improving greenhouse soil conditions and reducing livestock manure odor, we hope for active utilization by farmers."
남원시농업기술센터, 미생물 활용 교육 호응…친환경 농업 확산 앞장
남원시농업기술센터가 추진 중인 ‘미생물 활용 및 농산물 안전 분석 교육’이 지역 농업인들로부터 호응을 얻고 있다.
농업기술센터는 상반기에는 매월 첫째 주 수요일, 하반기에는 격월 1회 정기 교육을 실시하며 친환경 농업 확산에 나서고 있다. 현재 센터는 BM 활성수를 비롯해 광합성균, 유산균, 고초균, 효모균, 클로렐라, BT, 방선균 등 7종의 농업용 유용 미생물을 연간 700톤 이상 공급하고 있다.
미생물은 지역별 접근성을 고려해 두 곳에서 무상 공급된다. 농업기술센터(이백면)는 매주 월요일 오후, 농기계 임대사업소(인월면)는 매주 목요일 오후 운영된다.
공급 대상은 관련 교육을 이수한 농업인으로, 사전 신청과 예약을 통해 격주로 수령할 수 있다. 용기는 개인이 직접 준비해야 하며, 사용 시에는 작물 생육 시기에 맞춰 희석농도를 조절해 살포하거나 관주해야 한다.
김흥수 남원시농업기술센터 지도사는 “유용 미생물은 지속적으로 사용할 때 작물 생육과 축산 환경 개선에 효과가 크다”며 “시설하우스 연작장해 개선과 축분 악취 저감에도 도움이 되는 만큼 농가들의 적극적인 활용을 바란다”고 말했다.
