Jeonbuk University has expanded and strengthened its educational infrastructure for nurturing digital convergence talent by establishing an educational innovation space called 'AI Space' based on generative AI and immersive content.
The expansion was carried out in response to increased student participation and educational demand since the opening of AI Space in April last year. Jeonbuk University's Educational Innovation Division expanded the educational seating capacity through space rearrangement and introduced a class auto-recording system to create and share high-quality educational content.
The core of this expansion is the introduction of a 'Physical AI' based experiential environment. Moving beyond the existing generative AI-centric experiences, it is now possible to conduct practical education that combines actual physical movements with artificial intelligence.
Key equipment includes AI Go robots, AI drawing robots, quadruped walking robots, AI-based hologram boxes, and treadmill-type simulators, which will be utilized to enhance students' experience with cutting-edge technology and practical skills.
Shim Jae-woo, head of Jeonbuk University's Educational Innovation Division, stated, "We will focus more on cultivating practical AI talent by creating an environment where students can utilize and experiment with AI technology in their daily lives."
President Yang Oh-bong said, "The expansion of AI Space is a crucial turning point in realizing Jeonbuk University's initiatives in the 'On AI Era' and establishing a 'Physical AI Valley,'" adding, "We will continue to invest and support to leap into a global-level digital educational innovation model."
AI Space is located in Room 253 of Jinsoo Hall at Jeonbuk University and operates continuously for university members.
전북대, ‘AI스페이스’ 확장 구축…디지털 융합 인재 양성 강화
전북대학교가 생성형 AI와 실감형 콘텐츠를 기반으로 한 교육 혁신 공간 ‘AI스페이스(AI SPACE)’를 확장 구축하고 디지털 융합 인재 양성을 위한 교육 인프라를 강화했다.
이번 확장 구축은 지난해 4월 AI스페이스 개소 이후 높아진 학생 참여와 교육 수요에 대응하기 위해 추진됐다. 전북대 교육혁신본부는 공간 재배치를 통해 교육용 좌석을 늘리고, 수업자동녹화시스템을 도입해 고품질 교육 콘텐츠 제작과 공유 체계를 갖췄다.
특히 이번 확장의 핵심은 ‘피지컬 AI’ 기반 체험 환경 도입이다. 기존 생성형 AI 중심 체험에서 나아가 실제 물리적 움직임과 인공지능이 결합된 실습형 교육이 가능해졌다.
주요 장비로는 AI 바둑로봇, AI 드로잉로봇, 사족보행 로봇, AI 기반 홀로그램 박스, 트레드밀형 시뮬레이터 등이 구축돼 학생들의 첨단 기술 체험과 실무 역량 강화에 활용될 예정이다.
심재우 전북대 교육혁신본부장은 “학생들이 AI 기술을 일상적으로 활용하고 실험할 수 있는 환경을 조성해 실천형 AI 인재 양성에 더욱 집중하겠다”고 말했다.
양오봉 총장은 “AI스페이스 확장은 전북대학교가 추진 중인 ‘On AI 시대’와 ‘피지컬 AI 밸리’ 구축을 구체화하는 중요한 전환점”이라며 “글로벌 수준의 디지털 교육 혁신 모델로 도약할 수 있도록 지속적인 투자와 지원을 이어가겠다”고 밝혔다.
AI스페이스는 전북대 진수당 253호에 위치해 있으며, 학내 구성원을 대상으로 상시 운영된다.
