On the 18th, Gunsan City held an inauguration ceremony for the 11th term of the Gunsan City Children and Youth Council, marking the beginning of its full-fledged activities.
The Gunsan City Children and Youth Council is a mechanism operated to ensure the participation rights of children and youth and to expand their involvement in municipal affairs. This year, a total of 54 members were selected through open recruitment.
The inauguration ceremony included the presentation of certificates of appointment, the swearing-in of council members, and a commemorative photo session. Following this, an orientation session was held to introduce the annual activity schedule and promote camaraderie among the council members.
Kim Young-min, the Vice Mayor of Gunsan City, expressed his expectations, saying, "I hope that the children and youth council members will actively participate in various issues and policies as members of the local community, providing their opinions." He also stated, "I will strive to ensure that the voices advocating for children's rights are reflected in municipal policies."
In the future, the Gunsan City Children and Youth Council plans to engage in various activities such as education on children's rights and parliamentary democracy in collaboration with Good Neighbors' North Jeolla Branch, field trips to advanced sites, standing committee activities for agenda exploration, and conducting plenary sessions for policy proposals and resolutions.
군산시, 제11기 어린이·청소년의회 발대식 개최
군산시가 18일 ‘제11기 군산시 어린이·청소년의회’ 발대식을 열고 본격적인 활동에 들어갔다.
군산시 어린이·청소년의회는 어린이와 청소년의 참여권 보장과 시정 참여 확대를 위해 운영되는 기구로, 올해는 공개모집을 통해 총 54명의 의원이 선발됐다.
이날 발대식은 위촉장 수여와 의원 선서, 기념촬영 순으로 진행됐으며, 이어 연간 활동 일정 안내와 의원 간 친목 도모를 위한 오리엔테이션도 마련됐다.
김영민 군산시 부시장은 “어린이·청소년 의원들이 지역사회의 구성원으로서 다양한 문제와 정책에 주체적으로 참여하고 의견을 제시해주길 기대한다”며 “아동권리 보장을 위한 목소리가 시정에 반영될 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
군산시 어린이·청소년의회는 앞으로 굿네이버스 전북북부지부와 협력해 아동권리와 의회민주주의 이해를 위한 교육, 선진지 견학, 의제 발굴을 위한 상임위원회 활동, 정책 건의안 심의·의결을 위한 본회의 운영 등 다양한 활동을 이어갈 예정이다.
