The 27th Jeonju International Film Festival (Executive Directors Min Sung-wook, Jung Joon-ho) will raise its curtain on April 29th at 6:30 pm at the Hanok Village in Jeonju, South Korea. This year's film festival, under the slogan 'We Always Cross the Line,' will showcase 237 films from 54 countries around the world.
Actor Shin Hyun-joon, who will serve as the host, has been attending the red carpet of the Jeonju International Film Festival consistently for the past few years, establishing a deep connection with the festival. Co-hosting the event, actress Go Won-hee, known for her outstanding performances in independent films such as "Merry Christmas Mr. Mo" (2017), "A Girl Missing" (2018), and "Gagman" (2024), will meet the audience not only at the opening ceremony but also at the 'Meeting Class.' The harmony of experience and freshness that the two actors, deeply connected to the Jeonju International Film Festival, will bring to the opening ceremony is expected to inject new vitality into the event.
The highlight of the opening ceremony, the red carpet, will be graced by renowned directors and actors from both domestic and international scenes. This year's red carpet will be linked to a special exhibition honoring the late actor Ahn Sung-ki, with fellow filmmakers who shared a close bond with him participating. Additionally, actors from the special program "Jeonju X Majung Partner Ghost Studio," in collaboration with actor management, are expected to create a meaningful exchange and harmony among film professionals like never before.
After the welcoming remarks from the co-executive directors Min Sung-wook and Jung Joon-ho, a special contribution award will be presented. This year's recipient is the late actor Ahn Sung-ki, selected to honor his contributions to the Korean film industry. Ahn Sung-ki's son, Ahn Phillip, will be present to accept the award on his behalf.
Following the award ceremony, the festival will officially kick off a 10-day journey. The jury members and 'J Special: Programmer of the Year' will be introduced, with director Byun Young-joo being selected this year to present works reflecting her unique perspective, providing the audience with fresh inspiration.
The opening performance by writer and singer O Ji-eun will be followed by the introduction and screening of the opening film, "The Private Life of an Artist" directed by Kent Jones. The film, which metaphorically portrays the life and struggles of an artist, received critical acclaim at the Venice International Film Festival. Kent Jones and actress Greta Lee will personally attend the opening ceremony for a special encounter with the Korean audience.
The 27th Jeonju International Film Festival, gathering anticipation through diverse events and programs, will meet the audience from April 29th to May 8th at the Film Street and various venues in Jeonju City.

제27회 전주국제영화제(집행위원장 민성욱, 정준호)가 오는 29일 오후 6시 30분, 한국소리문화의전당 모악당에서 막을 올린다. 올해 영화제는 ‘우리는 늘 선을 넘지’라는 슬로건 아래, 전 세계 54개국에서 출품된 237편의 작품을 선보인다.
사회자로 나서는 배우 신현준은 최근 수년간 전주국제영화제 레드카펫에 꾸준히 참석하며 영화제와 깊은 인연을 이어온 바 있다. 공동 사회를 맡은 배우 고원희는 영화 〈메리 크리스마스 미스터 모〉(2017), 〈죄 많은 소녀〉(2018) 및 〈개그맨〉(2024) 등 유수의 독립영화에서 밀도 높은 연기를 선보이며 주목받아 왔으며, 올해는 개막식 사회를 비롯해 ‘마중클래스’로 관객과 만날 예정이다. 전주국제영화제와 인연이 깊은 두 배우가 선보일 노련함과 신선함의 조화가 개막식에 새로운 활력을 더할 것으로 보인다.
개막식의 하이라이트인 레드카펫에는 국내외 거장 감독들과 배우들이 대거 참석해 자리를 빛낸다. 특히 이번 레드카펫은 故 안성기 배우를 기리는 특별전과 연계되어, 그와 깊은 인연을 맺은 동료 영화인들이 참여한다. 이에 매해 배우 매니지먼트와 함께하는 특별 프로그램 전주X마중의 파트너 ‘고스트스튜디오’ 소속 배우들도 나서 어느 해보다 의미 있는 영화인들의 교류와 화합의 장을 이룰 전망이다.
민성욱·정준호 공동집행위원장의 환영사로 개막식의 시작을 알린 뒤, 특별공로상을 시상한다. 올해 수상자는 고 안성기 배우로, 한국영화계에 남긴 업적을 기리고자 선정됐다. 고 안성기 배우의 아들 안필립이 참석해 대리 수상을 진행한다.
시상 후에는 개막 선언을 통해 본격적인 10일간의 여정에 돌입한다. 이어 심사위원 및 ‘J 스페셜: 올해의 프로그래머’가 소개되며, 올해는 변영주 감독이 선정되어 자신만의 시선이 담긴 작품들을 소개해 관객들에게 새로운 영감을 제공할 예정이다.
이어 작가이자 가수로 대중에게 감동을 전하는 오지은의 개막 공연이 진행되며, 개막작 소개와 상영으로 개막식이 마무리된다. 개막작은 켄트 존스 감독의 〈나의 사적인 예술가〉로 예술가의 삶과 고뇌를 우화적으로 풀어낸 작품이다. 지난 베니스국제영화제에서 공개돼 호평받은 바 있으며, 켄트 존스 감독과 그레타 리 배우는 개막식에 직접 참석해 한국 관객과 특별한 만남을 가질 계획이다.
