The Labor Party participated in a press conference for the '2026 Local Election Traffic Light Alliance Joint Declaration' held at 1:30 p.m. on April 28th at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul, expressing their commitment to spreading a politics of equality and dignity beyond the privileged party politics in the 2026 local elections.
At the press conference, the Labor Party, Green Party, Justice Party, and the Social Transformation Alliance were present. They declared through the 'Traffic Light Alliance' that they will create a new transition in local politics ahead of the 2026 local elections, placing everyone's lives and dignity at the core of the local election, rather than a growth discourse centered on the wealthy.
The Labor Party stated, "The tasks of social transformation demanded by the square have not yet been realized," and emphasized the need to move towards a politics of equality and dignity beyond prioritizing the wealthy, climate denial, and the retreat of labor rights.
Furthermore, they stressed, "Guaranteeing the labor rights of all workers, transitioning to respond to the climate crisis at the local level, expanding public care and services, and initiating social transformation starting from the local level should be the core issues of this local election."
The Labor Party also mentioned, "It is difficult to fully realize the demands of the square within the privileged party system," and expressed that the 2026 local elections should serve as an opportunity for political system transition to grow at the local level.
Lastly, the Labor Party stated, "We will work with our colleagues in the Traffic Light Alliance to spread a politics of equality and dignity in the local and workplace, and create a politics of system transition starting from people's lives."
Meanwhile, the Labor Party's Jeonbuk Provincial Party recommended Im So-hee (21), who works as a webtoon artist, as a proportional party-recommended candidate for the Jeonju City Council to implement the spirit of this joint declaration in local political scenes.
The Jeonbuk Provincial Party of the Labor Party plans to raise issues of precarious labor, cultural and artistic labor, youth life, and local public service problems as agenda items in the Jeonju City Council through a young labor candidate. This is interpreted as a regional-level practice to realize 'politics of equality and dignity' not just as a slogan of central politics but as a practical approach at the citizen's living and working places.

“부자우선성장 넘어 평등과 존엄의 정치로 나아가겠다”
노동당은 지난 4월 28일 오후 1시 30분 서울 광화문광장에서 열린 ‘2026 지방선거 신호등연대 공동선언’ 기자회견에 참여해, 2026 지방선거에서 기득권 양당정치를 넘어 평등과 존엄의 정치를 확산시키겠다고 밝혔다.
이날 기자회견에는 노동당, 녹색당, 정의당 등 진보3당과 사회대전환연대회의가 함께했다. 이들은 2026 지방선거를 앞두고 ‘신호등연대’를 통해 지역정치의 새로운 전환을 만들고, 부자 중심의 성장담론이 아니라 모두의 삶과 존엄을 지방선거의 핵심 의제로 세우겠다고 선언했다.
노동당은 “광장이 요구했던 사회대전환의 과제는 여전히 실현되지 못하고 있다”며 “부자우선성장, 기후부정의, 노동기본권의 후퇴를 넘어 평등과 존엄의 정치로 나아가야 한다”고 밝혔다.
이어 “모든 노동자의 노동기본권 보장, 기후위기에 대응하는 지역 전환, 공공돌봄과 공공서비스 확대, 지역에서부터 시작하는 사회대전환이 이번 지방선거의 핵심 의제가 되어야 한다”고 강조했다.
노동당은 또한 “기득권 양당체제 안에서는 광장의 요구를 온전히 실현하기 어렵다”며 “2026 지방선거는 체제전환 정치가 지역에서 성장하는 계기가 되어야 한다”고 밝혔다.
끝으로 노동당은 “지역과 일터에서 평등과 존엄의 정치를 확산시키고, 삶터에서 시작하는 체제전환의 정치를 신호등연대의 동료들과 함께 만들어가겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편 노동당 전북도당은 이번 공동선언의 취지를 지역정치 현장에서 실현하기 위해 전주시의회 비례 정당추천 후보로 웹툰 어시던트로 일하고 있는 임소희 씨(21)를 추천했다.
노동당 전북도당은 청년 노동자 후보를 통해 불안정 노동, 문화예술 노동, 청년의 삶, 지역 공공서비스 문제를 전주시의회 의제로 제기하겠다는 방침이다. 이는 ‘평등과 존엄의 정치’를 중앙정치의 구호에 머물게 하지 않고, 시민의 삶터와 일터에서 실현하겠다는 지역 차원의 실천으로 풀이된다.
