Gunsan Technical High School has been selected for the Ministry of Education's "Meister High School Leap Support Project."
The Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Office of Education announced on the 4th that seven schools, including Gunsan Technical High School, were finally selected out of the 12 Meister high schools nationwide that applied for this project.
The "Meister High School Leap Support Project" aims to enhance the role of vocational education as a leading model by responding to the spread of new industries and technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and software (SW), and improving the outdated Meister high school educational environment.
With this selection, Gunsan Technical High School will receive a budget of 500 million won from the Ministry of Education to promote the transition to a future-oriented vocational education system that integrates AI and robotics technology in the shipbuilding and machinery fields.
The school plans to establish a new AI-robotics integrated curriculum and specialized clubs, enhance the technological capabilities of teachers, and build advanced practical spaces such as a robotics hardware design lab. Additionally, they aim to increase students' on-site job skills by jointly utilizing resources with local universities and companies.
Oh Ji-sook, head of the Creative Talent Education Department at the Jeonbuk Office of Education, stated, "Gunsan Technical High School has created an opportunity to leap forward as a prestigious Meister high school leading in new industries," and added, "We will spare no effort in providing continuous cooperation and support to ensure that this achievement contributes to the overall advancement of vocational high schools in the province."
군산기계공고, 교육부 ‘마이스터고 재도약 지원사업’ 선정
AI·로봇 융합 교육과정 도입… 조선·기계 분야 미래형 직업교육 전환
군산기계공업고등학교가 교육부 주관 ‘마이스터고 재도약 지원사업’에 최종 선정됐다.
전북특별자치도교육청은 4일 전국 12개 마이스터고가 신청한 이번 사업에서 군산기계공고를 포함한 7개교가 최종 선정됐다고 밝혔다.
‘마이스터고 재도약 지원사업’은 인공지능(AI)·소프트웨어(SW) 등 신산업·신기술 확산에 대응하고, 노후화된 마이스터고 교육환경을 개선해 직업교육 선도 모델로서의 역할을 강화하기 위해 추진된다.
군산기계공고는 이번 선정으로 교육부 예산 5억 원을 지원받아 조선·기계 분야에 AI와 로봇 기술을 융합한 미래형 직업교육 체제로 전환을 추진한다.
학교는 AI·로봇 융합 교육과정과 전공동아리를 신설하고, 교원의 신기술 역량 강화에도 나설 계획이다. 또 로봇 하드웨어 설계실 등 첨단 실습 공간을 구축하고, 지역 대학·기업과 기자재를 공동 활용해 학생들의 현장 직무 능력을 높일 방침이다.
오지숙 전북교육청 창의인재교육과장은 “군산기계공고가 신산업 분야를 선도하는 명문 마이스터고로 재도약할 수 있는 계기를 마련했다”며 “이번 성과가 도내 직업계고 전체의 발전으로 이어질 수 있도록 지속적인 협력과 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 말했다.
