EBS will be airing a special 3-part series of the children's philosophy debate program "Young Philosophers" focusing on AI, starting on May 6th, in celebration of Children's Month. The program will be broadcast every Wednesday at 8:20 am on EBS 1TV.
Against the backdrop of an era where ethical judgment and responsibility in technology have become crucial enough for global AI companies to hire philosophers, this special series captures the process of children living in the AI age questioning and seeking answers for themselves.
Part 1, "The Last Survivor," deals with ethical dilemmas and responsibilities of choosing life based on a self-driving car accident scenario. Part 2, "Super Sale Humanoid," explores the difference between empathetic machines and humans when humanoid robots become part of daily life. Part 3, "The Useless Human," questions where the value and dignity of humans originate in an era where AI is replacing jobs.
"Young Philosophers" is a program conducted 100% without a script, where children debate AI, humans, and ethical issues in their own language.
PD Lee Ji-hyun stated, "The more we deeply contemplate AI, we eventually reach age-old questions like 'what is right?' and 'what is a human?'" and expressed that the process of philosophizing AI will be a time for children to explore ethics and existentialism.

자율주행·휴머노이드·인간의 가치 등 AI 시대 딜레마 다뤄
EBS는 어린이의 달 5월을 맞아 어린이 철학 토론 프로그램 <어린 철학자> AI 특집 3부작을 6일부터 매주 수요일 오전 8시 20분 EBS 1TV에서 방송한다.
이번 특집은 글로벌 AI 기업들이 철학자를 채용할 만큼 기술의 윤리적 판단과 책임 문제가 중요해진 시대를 배경으로, AI 시대를 살아갈 어린이들이 스스로 질문하고 답을 찾아가는 과정을 담았다.
1부 <최후의 생존자>는 자율주행차 사고 상황을 바탕으로 생명을 선택해야 하는 윤리적 딜레마와 책임 문제를 다룬다. 2부 <초특가 휴머노이드>는 인간형 로봇이 일상에 들어왔을 때 공감하는 기계와 인간의 차이를 탐구한다. 3부 <쓸모 없는 인간>은 AI가 일자리를 대체하는 시대에 인간의 가치와 존엄이 어디에서 비롯되는지를 묻는다.
<어린 철학자>는 100% 대본 없이 진행되는 프로그램으로, 아이들이 자신의 언어로 AI와 인간, 윤리의 문제를 토론하는 것이 특징이다.
이지현 PD는 “AI를 깊이 고민할수록 결국 ‘무엇이 옳은가’, ‘인간이란 무엇인가’ 같은 오래된 질문에 닿게 된다”며 “AI를 철학하는 과정은 아이들에게 윤리적·존재론적 탐구의 시간이 될 것”이라고 밝혔다.
