The Jeonju International Film Festival (co-executive directors Min Sung-wook and Jung Joon-ho) announced the winners of the 27th Jeonju International Film Festival and the 18th Jeonju Project at the Samsung Culture Hall at Jeonbuk University on May 5.
The 27th Jeonju International Film Festival presented a diverse selection of 236 films from 54 countries to the audience. A total of 37 awards were presented in 19 categories for the Jeonju International Film Festival and 18 categories for the Jeonju Project at the awards ceremony held on that day.
The judging panel for the Jeonju International Film Festival included international competition judges such as producer Mark Peranson, director Pascal Bonitzer, Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival programmer Tsuchida Tamaki, Myung Films CEO Shim Jae-myung, and director Im Soon-rye. The Korean competition judges were Broadway Cinematheque Director Didi Woo, Locarno Film Festival programmer Stephan Ivancic, and director Lee Hae-young. The Korean short film competition judges included actor Go Ah-sung, London's Institute of Contemporary Arts film programmer Daniel Turner, director Lee Won-seok, and the Netpac Award judges were directors Budi Kirtisena and Ryu Hoon, along with Professor Choi Ik-hwan from Soongsil University. The Fuji Film Korea Award judges included critics Park In-ho, Heo Nam-woong, and Son Shin-ae. Each judging panel selected the award-winning works after in-depth discussions.
At the awards ceremony, attended by Chairman Woo Beom-gi and co-executive directors Min Sung-wook and Jung Joon-ho, as well as judges, competition section directors and actors, and invited guests, Chairman Woo Beom-gi congratulated the winners and recipients, stating, "Today, this stage is a gathering of creators who have not given up their passion after much deliberation and effort," and extended his congratulations to all the winners.
The grand prize in the international competition section was awarded to the film "Slowly Disappearing Night" by directors Ezekiel Salinas and Ramiro Soncini. Director Ezekiel Salinas and Ramiro Soncini expressed their gratitude for the award, with Salinas mentioning the beauty of the festival in bringing together diverse films for storytelling and enjoyment. The Best Director award went to Jack Oon and Kevin Walker for "Chronovisor," while the Special Jury Prize was awarded to Vitautas Katkus for "The Visitor." The Special Mention from the jury went to Nakao Hiromichi for "Mitsuki: The Voice of Time."
In the Korean competition section, the top prize was awarded to director Lee Sun-yeon for "Summer of Loss." Director Lee Sun-yeon expressed gratitude for the opportunity to screen her first film and vowed to continue creating sincerely despite the challenges ahead. The CGV Award went to director Ko Seung-hyun for "Spending the Same Season," the Best Actor award was given to Ki Jin-woo for "Sleepless Night," and the Best Actress award was given to Yeo Dae-hyun for "Spending the Same Season." The Nongshim Shin Ramyun Award was presented to director Yoo So-young for "Gong Soon-i," and the Special Jury Prize went to director Kim Myung-woo for "Revival."
In the Korean short film competition, the top prize was awarded to director Ta Ji-won for "Touch, Tug." Director Ta Ji-won expressed his satisfaction with the choices made during the film's production. The Best Director award went to Kim Jung-min for "Buckwheat Jelly," the Special Jury Prize was awarded to director Kang Min-ah for "Business Diary," the Aero K Award went to director Kang Seung-ho for "Post Poo Drop," and directors Ryu Do-hyun for "Whale Hunt" shared the award.
The Fuji Film Korea Award in the Special Section was given to director Moon Jung-hyun for "Time of Non-face-to-face," while the Documentary Award was presented to director Kim Myung-woo for "Revival." Director Kim Myung-woo expressed gratitude to all who supported and cheered for the film, dedicating the award to his father, who recorded his lonely and wandering childhood and the circumstances of his client. The J Vision Award went to director Kim Jong-kwan for "Graduation Album: Waiting for the Teacher," the Netpac Award was given to director Uchiyama Takuya for "Mabi: Shibire," and the Mexican National Cineteca Opening Support Award was presented to director Roh Young-wan for "Afterglow."
The judging panel for the Jeonju Project included Jeonju Lab judges and mentors Kim Se-hoon, director Yoon Dan-bi, director Jung Jae-eun, and director Ji Hye-won. The Jeonju Lab: Short Film judges and mentors included Jeonju International Film Festival co-executive director Min Sung-wook, Work in Progress judges were Triple Pictures CEO Kang Ki-myung, Pia Film Festival Director Araki Keiko, and Kaohsiung Film Festival Program Director Jung Bing-hong. Advisors included Indie Story CEO Kwak Yong-soo, San Sebastian Film Festival programmer Roberto Cueto, Q Cinema International Film Festival Artistic Director Ed Lejano, Jinjin Film Company Planning and Distribution Team Manager Jung Tae-won, and Etnine Film CEO Heo Ji.
The Jeonju Film Production Studio Award for digital color correction was given to director Jo Hanna for "Woman" and director Choi Jung-eun for "Quiet Legacy." The JICA Award for sound mastering was presented to director Choi Se-dam for "Dancing Woman on the Waves" and directors Ban Sian and Yoon Jae-ho for "About My Boyfriend." The Pumordity Award went to director Lee Da-young for "We Met Again" and director Choi Jung-eun for "Quiet Legacy," while the DVCat Award was given to director Byun Sung-bin for "Mountain Clap" and director Lee Sang-moon for "Wrinkle." The Documentary Focus Award (SJM) was awarded to director Choi Se-dam for "Dancing Woman on the Waves," and the Distribution Support Fund was given to director Lee Sang-moon for "Wrinkle."
In the Jeonju Lab: Short Film category, the 2nd production support grant went to director Yang Eun-kyung for "Flash," while material support for various production needs was provided to director Yang Eun-kyung for "Flash" and director Song Jin-kyung for "Gap." The Ghost Studio-sponsored Jeonju Cast Award, which includes a cash prize of 10 million won and casting options, was awarded to director Lee Da-young for "We Met Again."
제27회 전주국제영화제 국제경쟁 대상 〈서서히 사라지는 밤〉
전주국제영화제(공동집행위원장 민성욱·정준호)가 5월 5일 전북대학교 삼성문화회관에서 시상식을 열고 제27회 전주국제영화제와 제18회 전주프로젝트 수상작을 발표했다.
제27회 전주국제영화제는 54개국 236편의 다양한 작품을 선보이며 관객과 만났다. 이날 열린 시상식에서는 전주국제영화제 19개과 전주프로젝트 18개 등 총 37개의 부문 시상이 진행됐다.
전주국제영화제 수상작 심사는 국제경쟁 부문에 마크 페란손 프로듀서, 파스칼 보데 감독, 야마가타국제다큐멘터리영화제 쓰치다 다마키 프로그래머, 명필름 심재명 대표, 임순례 감독이 참여했으며, 한국경쟁은 브로드웨이 시네마테크 디디 우 디렉터, 로카르노영화제 스테판 이반치치 프로그래머, 이해영 감독이 맡았다. 한국단편경쟁 심사위원은 고아성 배우, 영국 런던 현대예술연구소 대니얼 터너 영화 프로그래머, 이원석 감독이, 넷팩상은 부디 키르티세나 감독, 류훈 감독, 숭실대학교 최익환 교수가, 후지필름코리아상은 박인호·허남웅·손시내 평론가가 심사를 맡았다. 각 부문 별 심사위원단은 심도 있는 논의 끝에 수상작을 선정했다.
이날 시상식에서는 우범기 조직위원장과 민성욱·정준호 공동집행위원장을 비롯해 심사위원, 경쟁부문 감독 및 배우, 초청 게스트 등이 참석해 자리를 빛냈다. 시상식에서 우범기 조직위원장은 “오늘 이 무대는 긴 시간 고민하고 끝까지 포기하지 않은 창작자들의 열정이 모인 자리”라며 “오늘 수상의 영예를 안을 모든 분께 축하의 말씀을 드린다”고 수상작과 수상자들에게 축하를 전했다.
국제경쟁 부문 대상은 심사위원의 만장일치로 에세키엘 살리나스·라미로 손시니 감독의 〈서서히 사라지는 밤〉이 수상했다. 에세키엘 살리나스·라미로 손시니 감독은 “영화제가 아름다운 이유 중 하나는 다양한 영화가 모여 이야기를 나누고 즐길 수 있다는 것이다”라며, “영화를 보고 만드는 것을 너무 좋아했기 때문에 모든 것이 가능했다”며 수상 소감을 밝혔다. 작품상은 잭 오언·케빈 워커 감독의 〈크로노바이저〉, 심사위원 특별상은 비타우타스 카트쿠스 감독의 〈방문자〉에게 돌아갔다. 심사위원 특별언급은 나카오 히로미치 감독의 〈미치유키: 시간의 목소리〉가 호명됐다. 심사위원인 파스칼 보데 감독은 “이 영화는 우리가 지나가는 시간을 우아하게 가늠하게 해준다”며 작품을 평했다.
한국경쟁 대상은 이선연 감독의 〈흘려보낸 여름〉이 받았다. 이선연 감독은 “첫 영화를 상영할 수 있는 기회를 주셔서 감사하다”며, “이제 꿈같은 시간을 뒤로하고 외롭고 고독한 창작의 시간을 갖게 되겠지만 성실히 창작해 나가겠다”고 동료 영화인 및 관객의 환호 속에 감사를 전했다. 이어 CGV상은 고승현 감독의 〈같은 계절을 보낸다는 건〉, 배우상은 〈잠 못 이루는 밤〉의 기진우 배우, 〈같은 계절을 보낸다는 건〉의 여대현 배우가 차지했다. 농심신라면상은 유소영 감독의 〈공순이〉가, 심사위원특별상은 김면우 감독의 〈회생〉이 각각 선정됐다.
한국단편경쟁 대상은 태지원 감독의 〈터치, 툭〉이 수상했다. 태지원 감독은 “오늘만은 영화를 찍으면서 했던 모든 선택이 옳았다고 생각할 수 있을 것 같다”며 벅찬 소감을 전했다. 감독상은 〈메밀묵〉의 김정민 감독, 심사위원 특별상은 강민아 감독의 〈영업일지〉, 에어로케이상은 강승호 감독의 〈포스트 푸 드롭〉, 류도현 감독의 〈고래사냥〉이 각각 수상의 순간을 함께했다.
특별부문의 후지필름코리아상은 문정현 감독의 〈비대면의 시간〉이 수상했으며, 다큐멘터리상은 김면우 감독의 〈회생〉이 수상했다. 김면우 감독은 “도와주시고 응원해주신 모든 분께 감사하다”며, “앞으로 회생 신청을 준비하시는 분들, 저의 고독하고 방황했던 유년시절, 그리고 의뢰인의 사정을 기록하고 있을 아버지에게 이 상을 바친다”라며 작품의 의미를 되새겼다. J비전상은 김종관 감독의 〈졸업앨범: 선생님을 기다렸다〉, 넷팩상은 우치야마 다쿠야 감독의 〈마비: 시비레〉, 멕시코국립시네테카 개봉지원상은 노영완 감독의 〈후광〉이 수상했다.
전주프로젝트 수상작 심사는 전주랩 심사 겸 멘토로 세모시 김세훈 대표 프로듀서, 윤단비 감독, 정재은 감독, 지혜원 감독이 참여했다. 전주랩: 단편 심사 및 멘토로 전주국제영화제 민성욱 공동집행위원장, 워크인프로그레스 심사는 트리플픽쳐스 강기명 대표, 피아영화제 아라키 케이코 페스티벌 디렉터, 가오슝영화제 정빙홍 프로그램 디렉터가 맡았다. 어드바이저로는 ㈜인디스토리 곽용수 대표, 산세바스티안영화제 로베르토 쿠에토 프로그래머, 큐시네마국제영화제 에드 레하노 아티스틱 디렉터, ㈜영화사 진진 정태원 기획·배급팀 부장, ㈜엣나인필름 주희 총괄 기획 홍보 이사가 참여했다.
디지털 색보정을 지원하는 전주영화제작소상은 조한나 감독의 〈여〉, 최정은 감독의 〈조용한 유산〉이 받았다. 이어 음향 마스터링을 지원하는 JICA상은 최세담 감독의 〈파도 위에서 춤추는 여자〉, 반시안·윤재호 감독의 〈내 남자친구에 관하여〉가, 푸르모디티상은 이다영 감독의 〈다시 만난 우리〉, 최정은 감독의 〈조용한 유산〉이, DVCat상은 변성빈 감독의 〈산의 손뼉〉, 이상문 감독의 〈주름〉이 각각 수상했다. 또한 다큐멘터리 포커스상(SJM)은 최세담 감독의 〈파도 위에서 춤추는 여자〉, 배급지원금은 이상문 감독의 〈주름〉이 선정됐다.
전주랩: 단편에서는 2차 제작지원금은 양은경 감독의 〈섬광〉이, 작품 제작을 위한 다양한 지원이 제공되는 현물 지원은 양은경 감독의 〈섬광〉, 송진경 감독의 〈틈에〉가 받았다. 고스트스튜디오가 후원하고 상금 1,000만 원과 캐스팅 옵션이 지원되는 전주캐스트상은 이다영 감독의 〈다시 만난 우리〉가 선정됐다.
