Jeonju City takes action against high-income and professional tax delinquents for the collection of local taxes.
Jeonju City has announced that until June 1, it has designated a special collection period for local tax delinquency and is actively pursuing strong collection activities, as of the 11th.
The city has identified 172 high-income and professional tax delinquents among those who owe more than 1 million won in local taxes and are estimated to earn a monthly salary of over 5 million won. The total amount of their delinquency is 1.82 billion won, and the city plans to start wage garnishment and collection procedures.
The targets were selected based on income data from the National Health Insurance Corporation, including medical professionals, financial professionals, legal professionals, employees of large corporations, and public sector workers.
The city plans to send seizure notices in mid-May to encourage voluntary payment, and starting in June, it will notify the delinquents' workplaces of wage garnishment and proceed with full-scale collection efforts.
Prior to this, the city traced financial assets such as stocks and insurance securities, seized 144 cases, and collected 113 million won in delinquent taxes. It is also continuing collection activities against chronic delinquents by seizing and collecting 8 million won through the seizure and collection of solar power generation sales proceeds.
Choi Hyeon-chang, Director of the Planning and Coordination Office of Jeonju City, stated, "For high-income and professional tax delinquents who have the ability to pay but have not paid local taxes, we will implement strong collection measures such as wage garnishment," and added, "We will do our best to establish a fair tax order to ensure that diligent taxpayers do not suffer disadvantages."
전주시, 고소득·전문직 체납자 급여 압류 착수
172명 체납액 18억 원 대상…6월부터 본격 추심
전주시가 지방세 체납액 징수를 위해 고소득·전문직 체납자에 대한 특별징수에 나선다.
전주시는 오는 6월 1일까지를 ‘지방세입 체납액 특별징수기간’으로 정하고, 강력한 체납징수 활동을 추진하고 있다고 11일 밝혔다.
시는 100만 원 이상 지방세 체납자 가운데 월 급여 500만 원 이상으로 추정되는 고소득·전문직 체납자 172명을 선별했다. 이들의 체납액은 총 18억200만 원으로, 시는 급여 압류와 추심 절차에 착수할 계획이다.
대상자는 건강보험공단 근로소득 자료를 바탕으로 선별됐으며, 의료인, 금융인, 법조인, 대기업 종사자, 공공기관 직원 등이 포함됐다.
시는 5월 중 압류 예고 통지를 발송해 자진 납부를 유도한 뒤, 6월부터는 체납자의 직장에 급여 압류를 통보하고 본격적인 추심에 들어갈 방침이다.
이에 앞서 시는 주식과 보험증권 등 금융자산을 추적해 144건을 압류하고 체납액 1억1300만 원을 징수했다. 또 태양광 발전 전력 판매 대금 압류·추심을 통해 800만 원을 징수하는 등 고질 체납자에 대한 징수 활동도 이어가고 있다.
최현창 전주시 기획조정실장은 “납부 능력이 있음에도 지방세를 체납한 고소득·전문직 체납자에 대해서는 급여 압류 등 강력한 체납처분을 실시하겠다”며 “성실 납세자가 불이익을 받지 않도록 공정한 조세질서 확립에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
