Jeonbuk University has achieved substantial employment outcomes through industry-academic collaboration education in the JBNU-KIST Convergence Graduate School operated in partnership with KIST.
Jeonbuk University announced that two graduate students from the JBNU-KIST Convergence Graduate School were hired as regular employees at the local small and medium-sized enterprise EnerTech International after completing an industry-academic internship.
This achievement is a case where the industry-academic convergence education model based on the 'University-Industry Professor System,' introduced by Jeonbuk University in collaboration with the Korea Institute of Science and Technology, has led to actual employment.
The JBNU-KIST Convergence Graduate School was launched as part of the Ministry of Science and ICT's 'University-Industry Cooperation Platform Establishment Pilot Project' and has been promoting field-oriented education connecting universities, research institutes, and companies.
The internship was conducted through the 'Jeonbuk-style Waterloo Co-op Program,' which combines theoretical education during the semester with practical training at companies during vacations. Participating students performed practical work in the field of next-generation battery technology, such as lithium-ion batteries, silicon anodes, and lithium iron phosphate batteries.
Department head Lee Seung-hee stated, "This achievement demonstrates that the industry-academic collaboration model, where education and employment are organically connected, is actually working," adding, "We have confirmed a virtuous cycle structure where talent settles stably in the local industry."
Jeonbuk University President Yang Oh-bong said, "The industry-academic collaboration model connecting universities, research institutes, and companies has led to actual employment outcomes," and expressed, "Through the establishment of a community of universities, industries, research institutes, and local communities as pursued by the Glocal University 30 project, we will expand the cultivation of talent linked to the local industry."

학연교수제 기반 산학연 협력 모델 성과…차세대 배터리 분야 취업 연계
전북대학교가 KIST와 함께 운영 중인 JBNU-KIST 산학연융합학과를 통해 산학연 연계 교육의 실질적인 취업 성과를 거뒀다.
전북대는 JBNU-KIST 산학연융합학과 대학원생 2명이 지역 강소기업 에너테크인터네셔널에서 진행한 산학협력 인턴십을 거쳐 모두 정규직으로 채용됐다고 밝혔다.
이번 성과는 전북대가 한국과학기술연구원과 국립대 최초로 도입한 ‘학연교수제’를 기반으로 한 산학연 융합 교육 모델이 실제 취업으로 이어진 사례다.
JBNU-KIST 산학연융합학과는 과학기술정보통신부 ‘학·연 협력 플랫폼 구축 시범사업’의 일환으로 출범했으며, 대학과 출연연, 기업을 연결하는 현장 중심 교육을 추진해 왔다.
이번 인턴십은 학기 중 이론 교육과 방학 중 기업 현장 실습을 병행하는 ‘전북형 워털루 코업 프로그램’을 통해 운영됐다. 참여 학생들은 리튬이온 배터리, 실리콘 음극재, 리튬인산철 배터리 등 차세대 배터리 기술 분야 실무를 수행했다.
이승희 학과장은 “이번 성과는 교육과 취업이 유기적으로 연결된 산학연 협력 모델이 실제로 작동하고 있음을 보여주는 사례”라며 “지역 산업에 인재가 안정적으로 정착하는 선순환 구조를 확인했다”고 말했다.
양오봉 전북대 총장은 “대학과 출연연, 기업이 연결된 산학연 협력 모델이 실제 취업 성과로 이어졌다”며 “글로컬대학30 사업이 지향하는 지·산·학·연 공동체 구축을 통해 지역 산업과 연계한 인재 양성을 확대하겠다”고 밝혔다.
