The Jeonju World Sound Festival (organized by Chairman Choi Cheol, hereinafter referred to as the Sound Festival) has finalized the selection of five next-generation sound performers for the '2026 Young Pansori Five Foundations' stage.
The selected sound performers this time are ▲ Sojang from Sugungga (born in 1998, Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do) ▲ Heungboga Choi Kwang-kyun (born in 1991, Namwon, Jeollabuk-do) ▲ Chunhyangga Lee Su-hyun (born in 2000, Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do) ▲ Jeokbyeokga Go Han-dol (born in 2001, Gongju, Chungcheongnam-do) ▲ Simcheongga Park Si-bon (born in 2001, Seoul), with one performer each from the five foundations of Pansori, totaling five individuals. In particular, the selection of sound performers from Jeollabuk-do in the Sugungga and Heungboga categories reaffirms the strength and potential for succession of regional traditional music.
The 'Young Pansori Five Foundations' is the representative program of the Sound Festival that provides young sound performers who continue the essence of our sound while adding a new sensibility with the opportunity to perform on stage. This year, the name was changed from the previous 'Youth Praise Young Pansori' to more directly encapsulate the meaning of the program. Since its inception in 2012, the festival has been playing a role as a gateway for the next generation of emerging sound performers leading Korean Pansori by discovering and nurturing young Pansori stars such as Yutae Pyeongyang, Kim Yul-hee, Jung Yoon-hyung, Min Eun-kyung, and Kim Ju-ri over the past 15 years.
The five selected young sound performers will showcase their own sound world on stage for about 60 minutes per foundation during the festival period. Each performance will be supplemented with explanations to help the audience understand, creating a stage that can be enjoyed by a wide range of audiences from those encountering Pansori for the first time to enthusiasts.
The festival will provide support for the selected performers in terms of stage, sound, promotion, and overall performance to ensure a high-quality presentation.
Kim Jung-soo, the executive director of the Sound Festival, stated, "The main actors of the 'Young Pansori Five Foundations' selected this time are sound performers who have the potential to faithfully carry on the tradition of each foundation while adding their own interpretations and personalities," and expressed his expectation that "it will be a valuable stage for the performers to grow one step further and convey the depth and charm of Pansori to the audience in a new way."
Meanwhile, the festival is currently recruiting for 'Sound NEXT - Sound Frontier,' which supports the discovery, growth, and distribution of next-generation music creators until the 26th (Tuesday).
전주세계소리축제 <젊은판소리 다섯바탕> 5인 최종 확정

전주세계소리축제(조직위원장 최철, 이하 소리축제)가 ‘2026 젊은판소리 다섯바탕’ 무대에 설 차세대 소리꾼 5인을 최종 선정했다.
이번에 선발된 소리꾼은 ▲수궁가 소장(1998년생, 전북 전주) ▲흥보가 최광균(1991년생, 전북 남원) ▲춘향가 이수현(2000년생, 경기 광주) ▲적벽가 고한돌(2001년생, 충남 공주) ▲심청가 박시본(2001년생, 서울)으로, 판소리 다섯바탕별 각 1인씩 총 5명이 이름을 올렸다. 특히 다섯 바탕 중 수궁가와 흥보가 부문에서 전북 출신 소리꾼이 선정되며 지역 전통음악의 저력과 계승 가능성을 다시 한번 확인하는 계기가 됐다.
‘젊은판소리 다섯바탕’은 우리 소리의 맥을 잇는 동시에 새로운 감각을 더할 젊은 소리꾼들에게 무대의 기회를 제공하는 소리축제의 대표 프로그램으로 올해는 기존 ‘청춘예찬 젊은판소리’에서 명칭을 변경해 보다 직관적으로 프로그램의 의미를 담아냈다. 또한 2012년 처음 시작된 이후 지난 15년간 유태평양, 김율희, 정윤형, 민은경, 김주리 등 젊은 판소리 스타들을 발굴·배출하며 한국 판소리를 이끌 차세대 신진 소리꾼들의 등용문 역할을 해왔다.
선정된 5인의 젊은 소리꾼들은 소리축제 기간 동안 바탕별 60분 내외의 연창 무대에 올라 자신만의 소리 세계를 펼친다. 각 공연에는 관객의 이해를 돕는 해설이 더해지며 판소리를 처음 접하는 관객부터 애호가까지 폭넓게 즐길 수 있는 무대로 구성된다.
소리축제는 선정자들에게 무대, 음향, 홍보 등 공연 전반에 대한 지원이 제공되며 완성도 높은 공연을 선보일 수 있도록 뒷받침할 계획이다.
김정수 소리축제 집행위원장은 “이번에 선정된 ‘젊은판소리 다섯바탕’의 주역들은 각 바탕의 전통을 충실히 이어가면서도 자신만의 해석과 개성을 더할 수 있는 가능성을 지닌 소리꾼들”이라며 “관객들에게는 판소리의 깊이와 매력을 새롭게 전달하고, 소리꾼들에게는 한 단계 성장하는 소중한 무대가 될 것으로 기대한다”고 밝혔다.
한편, 소리축제는 차세대 음악 창작자의 발굴부터 성장, 유통까지 지원하는 ‘소리 NEXT - 소리프론티어’를 26일(화)까지 모집중에 있다.
