Citizens who have contributed to the development of the local community and shone in Jeonju have been selected as the recipients of the '2026 Jeonju Citizen Awards'.
Jeonju City announced on the 18th that through the Jeonju Citizen Awards Selection Committee, consisting of 15 experts recommended from various fields, they have finalized seven recipients of the '2026 Jeonju Citizen Awards'.
The honored recipients of the 2026 Jeonju Citizen Awards are: △Hyohang Award recipient, Ms. Moon Jung-hye (68 years old, female) △Education and Academic Award recipient, Mr. Shin Hyo-gyun (70 years old, male) △Culture and Arts Award recipient, Mr. Wang Ki-seok (62 years old, male) △Industry and Technology Award recipient, Mr. Jung In-jun (52 years old, male) △Social Service Award recipient, Mr. Song Byeong-yong (64 years old, male) △Sports Award recipient, Mr. Choi Hyeong-won (63 years old, male) △Welfare Award recipient, Mr. Seo Yang-yeol (53 years old, male).
Looking at each field, Moon Jung-hye, the recipient of the Hyohang Award, has been a role model of filial piety by diligently caring for her 103-year-old grandmother while consistently engaging in volunteer activities at apartment complexes and community centers.
Shin Hyo-gyun, the recipient of the Education and Academic Award, has led the establishment and operation of the Jeonju Talent Development Foundation, played a leading role in the construction of Pungnam Haksa, and was recognized for his contributions to the operation support of the Jeonju Education Integrated Support Center and the cultivation of global talents.
Wang Ki-seok, the recipient of the Culture and Arts Award, has been at the forefront of globalizing pansori through over 200 performances over 40 years, leading the successful establishment of Jeonju Madang Changgeuk and contributing to the development of regional culture and arts.
In the field of Industry and Technology, Jung In-jun, the CEO of Gowon Spatial Information Co., Ltd., was selected for his contributions to the development of spatial information industry in Jeonbuk region and leading in the cultivation of talents in the spatial information field.
In the Social Service category, Song Byeong-yong, who served as the head of the Jeonju City Saemaeul Movement, engaging in various volunteer activities such as the 'Creating Good Neighbors Movement' and 'Saving the Global Village Environmental Movement', was selected as the recipient.
Choi Hyeong-won, the recipient of the Sports Award, contributed to the establishment of the Jeonju City Sports Council and efforts to host large-scale sports events in Jeonju, thus contributing to the development of sports in the city.
Lastly, Seo Yang-yeol, the recipient of the Welfare Award, has been at the forefront of the development of welfare policies in Jeonju City by establishing a regional-based welfare service system based on his extensive practical experience in the field of welfare in Jeonju City.
These recipients have been evaluated to have made significant contributions to the development of the local community in their respective fields and have been deemed qualified to be a role model for the citizens of Jeonju with their sincere spirit of volunteerism.
The recipients will be awarded plaques and medals, and will receive honors such as discounts on the use of public facilities managed by Jeonju City, such as parks, sports facilities, and parking lots. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place at the 'Jeonju Citizen's Day' event on June 19.
전주를 빛낸 ‘2026 전주시민대상’ 수상자 선정
효행대상 문정혜, 교육학술대상 신효균, 문화예술대상 왕기석 등 수상
지역사회 발전에 공헌하며 전주를 빛낸 시민들이 ‘2026 전주시민대상’ 수상자로 결정됐다.
전주시는 각계 분야에서 추천된 전문가 15명으로 구성된 전주시민대상 본심사위원회를 통해 ‘2026년 전주시민대상’ 수상자 7명을 최종 확정했다고 18일 밝혔다.
영광의 2026 전주시민대상 수상자는 △효행대상 문정혜 씨(68세, 여) △교육학술대상 신효균 씨(70세, 남) △문화예술대상 왕기석 씨(62세, 남) △산업·기술대상 정인준 씨(52세, 남) △사회봉사대상 송병용 씨(64세, 남) △체육대상 최형원 씨(63세, 남) △복지대상 서양열 씨(53세, 남)이다.
분야별로 살펴보면 효행대상 수상자인 문정혜 씨는 103세의 노모를 정성껏 돌보는 와중에도 아파트 공동체 및 경로당 등에서 봉사활동을 꾸준히 펼쳐오며 효의 모범을 보여왔다.
교육학술대상 수상자인 신효균 씨는 전주인재육성재단 창설 및 운영을 주도하고 풍남학사 건립에 앞장섰으며, 전주교육 통합지원센터 운영 지원 및 글로벌 인재양성에 관한 공로를 인정받았다.
문화예술대상 수상자인 왕기석 씨는 40여 년간 200여 편의 공연으로 판소리의 세계화에 앞장서고 있으며, 전주마당창극의 성공적인 정착을 이끌며 지역문화·예술 발전에 기여해왔다.
산업·기술대상 분야에서는 전북 지역 공간정보 산업 발전에 기여하고, 공간정보 분야 인재 양성에 앞장서온 정인준 ㈜고원공간정보 대표이사가 선정됐다.
사회봉사대상에서는 전주시새마을회장을 역임하며 ‘좋은 이웃 만들기 운동’ 및 ‘지구촌 살리기 환경운동’ 등을 전개하며 다양한 봉사활동을 전개해온 송병용 씨가 수상자로 결정됐다.
체육대상을 수상하게 된 최형원 씨는 전주시체육회 설립에 기여하고, 대규모 체육행사가 전주에서 개최될 수 있도록 노력하는 등 전주시 체육 발전에 기여했다.
끝으로 복지대상 수상자인 서양열 씨는 전주시 복지현장에서의 장기 실무 경험을 바탕으로 지역 기반 복지 서비스 제공 체계를 구축하는 등 전주시 복지정책 발전에 앞장서 왔다.
이들은 각 분야에서 지역사회 발전을 위해 공헌한 바가 크고, 성실한 봉사정신으로 전주시민에게 귀감이 될 자격이 충분하다고 평가돼 수상자로 결정됐다.
이들 수상자에게는 상패 및 메달이 수여될 예정으로, 전주시에서 관리하는 공원·체육시설·주차장 등의 공공시설 이용료 감면 등의 예우를 받게 된다. 시상식은 오는 6월 19일로 예정된 ‘전주시민의 날’ 행사에서 진행될 예정이다.
