The Jeonju World Sound Festival is introducing a new urban performance program called 'Sound Fringe,' created in collaboration with local artists and citizens, and is now open for public participation until June 26th. 'Sound Fringe' is a program designed to expand the festival space from the Jeonju Sori Culture Center to all over Jeonju city, providing a wide range of performance opportunities for local artists.
Sound Fringe will utilize everyday spaces throughout Jeonju city as performance venues, allowing citizens and tourists to experience various performing arts in closer proximity. Performances will take place not only in indoor spaces such as cafes and restaurants but also in outdoor spaces like parks and squares, transforming the festival from a traditional performance venue-centered event to an urban festival program that expands to the entire city.
This open call is targeting performing artists and groups active in the Jeonbuk region, welcoming genres including traditional music, bands, jazz, performances, and more for indoor and outdoor small stages. Selected participants will receive support for necessary stage equipment, sound systems, performance spaces, and promotion through the festival's promotional channels.
Applications for participation are open from the 26th until June 26th, and interested parties can submit their application forms along with performance videos or audio materials via email. The results will be announced on the festival's official website on July 3rd, with individual notifications sent to the selected participants. The performances will take place from August 14th to 16th over three days, with specific schedules and locations to be communicated individually after selection. 전주세계소리축제가 지역 예술가와 시민이 함께 만드는 도심형 공연 프로그램 ‘소리 프린지’를 새롭게 선보이며 6월 26일까지 참여자 공개 모집에 나선다. ‘소리 프린지’는 한국소리문화의전당 중심으로 운영되어 온 축제 공간을 전주시 전역으로 확장하고, 지역 예술가에게 폭넓은 공연 기회를 제공하기 위해 기획된 프로그램이다.
소리 프린지는 전주시 곳곳의 일상 공간을 공연장으로 활용해 시민과 관광객이 보다 가까운 거리에서 다양한 공연예술을 만날 수 있도록 구성된다. 카페와 음식점 등 실내 공간은 물론 공원과 광장 등 야외 공간에서도 공연이 펼쳐질 예정으로 기존 공연장 중심의 축제를 넘어 도시 전체를 무대로 확장한 도심형 축제 프로그램으로 운영된다.
이번 공개모집은 전북 지역을 중심으로 활동하는 공연예술가 및 단체를 대상으로 진행된다. 전통음악을 비롯해 밴드, 재즈, 퍼포먼스 등 장르 제한 없이 실내외 소형 무대에서 실연 가능한 장르라면 누구나 참여 가능하다. 선정된 참가자에게는 공연에 필요한 기본 무대와 음향 시스템, 공연 공간과 함께 소리축제 홍보매체를 통한 공연 홍보도 지원된다.

김정수 소리축제 집행위원장은 “‘소리 프린지’는 지역 예술가와 시민, 공간이 함께 연결되는 새로운 형태의 축제 프로그램”이라며 “전주 곳곳에서 펼쳐지는 다양한 공연을 통해 시민들이 일상 속에서 자연스럽게 축제를 경험하고, 도시 전체가 하나의 축제장이 되는 특별한 시간을 만들 수 있기를 기대한다”고 밝혔다.
