The National Gugak Center (Director Kim Jung-hyun) will present the first performance of the 2026 National Gugak Center's complete stage "Sori Pan" at the Yeumheon Hall of the National Gugak Center on the 20th at 2 p.m., featuring Jung Ju-hee's rendition of Kim Se-jong's Chunhyangga.
The "Sori Pan" complete stage is a representative complete pansori performance prepared by the National Gugak Center to fully appreciate the essence of pansori. This year, through a selection process, Jung Ju-hee, Im Seo-yeon, Jo Hee-jeong, and Choi Young-ran will continue to present complete stage performances with different sounds and personalities from June to November.
This year's "Sori Pan" will start with Jung Ju-hee's rendition of Kim Se-jong's Chunhyangga, followed by Im Seo-yeon's rendition of Kangsanje's Simcheongga on August 22, Jo Hee-jeong's rendition of Dongchoje's Sugungga on October 17, and Choi Young-ran's rendition of Dongchoje's Jeokbyeokga on November 21. The National Gugak Center plans to deeply convey the artistic and heritage value of pansori complete performances to the audience through this stage.
Jung Ju-hee, who will take the stage first, is a recipient of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage pansori Chunhyangga, having been recognized for her vocal skills by winning the President's Award at the 34th Mokpo National Gugak Competition. She is currently a standing member of the Changakbu of the Jeollanam-do Provincial Gugak Orchestra, consistently showcasing the depth of traditional pansori on stage.
Jung Ju-hee's rendition of Kim Se-jong's Chunhyangga follows the vocal tradition of the renowned singer Kim Se-jong from the late Joseon Dynasty, featuring refined melodies, dignified vocalization, and delicate emotional expressions. Chunhyangga, depicting the love story of Chunhyang and Lee Mong-ryong while portraying loyalty, righteousness, and human dignity, has long been beloved as a representative piece of pansori.
The performance will be divided into three parts, with skilled performers Jang Bo-yeong, Seo Eun-gi, and Jo Yong-an joining. Jang Bo-yeong is the recipient of the President's Award in the Master Division of the 31st National Masters Competition, Seo Eun-gi won the President's Award in the Comprehensive Division of the 25th Yeosu Jinam National Gugak Competition, and Jo Yong-an is a holder of the Intangible Cultural Heritage pansori jangdan in Jeollabuk-do Province.
An official from the National Gugak Center stated, "The complete stage is the essence of pansori created by the efforts of vocalists, the skills of masters, and the audience's focus, forming the true stage of pansori," adding, "Through this year's 'Sori Pan,' we hope the audience will experience the artistic depth and vivid resonance inherent in pansori."
국립민속국악원 ‘소리 판’ 첫 공연 정주희의 김세종제 춘향가
국립민속국악원(원장 김중현)은 오는 20일 오후 2시 국립민속국악원 예음헌에서 2026 국립민속국악원 완창무대 ‘소리 판’의 첫 공연으로 정주희의 김세종제 춘향가를 선보인다.
‘소리 판’ 완창무대는 판소리 한 바탕을 온전히 감상할 수 있도록 마련한 국립민속국악원의 대표 완창 판소리 공연이다. 올해는 공모와 심사를 거쳐 선정된 정주희, 임서연, 조희정, 최영란이 6월부터 11월까지 각기 다른 소리와 개성을 담은 완창무대를 이어간다.
올해 ‘소리 판’은 정주희의 김세종제 춘향가를 시작으로, 8월 22일 임서연의 강산제 심청가, 10월 17일 조희정의 동초제 수궁가, 11월 21일 최영란의 동초제 적벽가로 진행된다. 국립민속국악원은 이번 무대를 통해 판소리 완창이 지닌 예술성과 전승 가치를 관객에게 깊이 있게 전할 예정이다.
첫 무대에 오르는 정주희는 국가무형유산 판소리 춘향가 이수자로, 제34회 목포전국국악경연대회 명창부 대상 대통령상을 수상하며 소리의 기량을 인정받았다. 또한 현재 전라남도립국악단 창악부 상임단원으로 전통 판소리의 깊이를 무대 위에서 꾸준히 이어오고 있다.
정주희가 선보이는 김세종제 춘향가는 조선 후기 명창 김세종의 소리 맥을 잇는 바디로, 정제된 선율과 품격 있는 사설, 섬세한 감정 표현이 돋보이는 작품이다. 춘향과 이몽룡의 사랑을 중심으로 절개와 의리, 인간의 존엄을 그려낸 춘향가는 판소리의 대표 바탕으로 오랫동안 사랑받아 왔다.
이번 공연은 3부로 나누어 진행되며, 고수 장보영, 서은기, 조용안이 함께한다. 장보영은 제31회 전국고수대회 대명고수부 대상 대통령상 수상자, 서은기는 제25회 여수진남전국국악경연대회 종합대상 대통령상 수상자이며, 조용안은 전북특별자치도 무형유산 판소리장단 보유자이다.
국립민속국악원 관계자는 “완창무대는 소리꾼의 공력과 고수의 장단, 관객의 집중이 함께 만들어내는 판소리 본연의 무대”라며 “올해 ‘소리 판’을 통해 판소리 한 바탕이 지닌 예술적 깊이와 생생한 울림을 만나보시길 바란다”고 밝혔다.
