The Jeonju World Sound Festival (organized by Chairman Choi Cheol, hereinafter referred to as the Sound Festival) is hosting a participatory content competition titled "AI Pansori Creation Project - AI Pansori Square: New Sound, New Wind," combining traditional arts and artificial intelligence (AI), and is recruiting participants until July 6th.
This project is a participatory program designed for all citizens to directly create AI Pansori videos based on their own stories and imaginations. The goal is to reinterpret traditional Pansori using modern digital technology to make it more accessible and friendly, with participants becoming content producers and promoters to spread interest and participation in the festival.
The theme of the competition is open, and any Korean citizen, regardless of age, experience, or location, can participate as individuals or groups. Participants are required to create and submit AI video content based on Korean traditional music or Pansori, lasting at least 2 minutes and no more than 3 minutes.
The entries must be created using generative AI programs, with no restrictions on the use of AI. It is also mandatory to clearly indicate that the content was created using generative AI at the beginning or end of the video. The format can range from live-action videos to 2D/3D animations, motion graphics, etc., without any restrictions.
Applications can be submitted by downloading the participation application and personal information consent form from the official Sound Festival website (www.sorifestival.com), attaching the AI creation video, and emailing it to pr3@sorifestival.com by 3 p.m. on July 6th (Monday).
The judging process will involve selecting a total of 6 works through the first round of expert evaluation, followed by online and offline audience voting to determine the final award-winning piece. The first-round selected works will be publicly available on YouTube in July, and the number of likes will be counted. During the festival period from August 13th to 15th, the selected works will be screened on a special outdoor stage at the Sound Festival playground, accompanied by on-site QR voting.
The final selected works will receive prizes of 1 million won for the Grand Prize, 500,000 won for Excellence Award, and 250,000 won for the Encouragement Award. The award-winning works are also planned to be used as promotional content for future Sound Festivals.
Kim Jung-soo, the executive director of the Sound Festival, expressed, "This is a special project that shows the potential for new creation when AI technology meets Pansori," and added, "I hope it will be an opportunity for anyone who loves traditional music to create their own stories and imagination into new Pansori."
전주세계소리축제, ‘AI 판소리 창작 프로젝트’ 공모
전주세계소리축제(조직위원장 최철, 이하 소리축제)가 전통예술과 인공지능(AI)을 결합한 참여형 콘텐츠 공모전 「AI 판소리 창작 프로젝트 – AI 판소리 한마당 : 新(신)소리, 新(신)바람」을 개최하고 오는 7월 6일까지 참가자를 모집한다.
이번 프로젝트는 전 국민 누구나 자신의 이야기와 상상을 바탕으로 AI 판소리 영상을 직접 제작해 볼 수 있도록 기획된 참여형 프로그램이다. 전통 판소리를 현대적인 디지털 기술로 재해석해 보다 쉽고 친근하게 접할 수 있도록 하고, 참가자가 직접 콘텐츠 생산자이자 홍보 주체가 되어 축제의 관심과 참여를 확산시키는 것을 목표로 한다.
공모 주제는 자유이며, 대한민국 국민이라면 나이와 경력, 지역 제한 없이 개인 또는 단체 자격으로 누구나 참여할 수 있다. 참가자는 국악 또는 판소리를 기반으로 한 2분 이상 3분 이하의 AI 영상 콘텐츠를 제작해 제출하면 된다.
출품작은 생성형 AI 프로그램을 활용해 제작해야 하며, AI 활용 비율에는 제한이 없다. 또한 영상 시작 또는 종료 부분에 생성형 AI를 활용해 제작된 콘텐츠임을 반드시 명시해야 한다. 형식은 실사 촬영 기반 영상부터 2D·3D 애니메이션, 모션그래픽 등 제한 없이 자유롭게 제작할 수 있다.
접수는 소리축제 공식 홈페이지(www.sorifestival.com)에서 참가 신청서와 개인정보 동의서를 내려받아 AI 창작 영상 첨부 후 7월 6일(월) 오후 3시까지 이메일(pr3@sorifestival.com)로 제출하면 된다.
심사는 1차 전문가 심사를 통해 총 6개 작품을 선정한 뒤, 온라인과 오프라인 관객 투표를 거쳐 최종 수상작을 결정한다. 1차 선정작은 7월 중 유튜브를 통해 공개되며 좋아요 수를 집계하고, 축제 기간인 8월 13일부터 15일까지는 소리축제 놀이마당 야외 특설무대에서 상영과 함께 현장 QR 투표가 진행된다.
최종 선정된 작품에는 대상 100만 원, 우수상 50만 원, 장려상 25만 원의 상금이 수여되며, 수상작은 향후 소리축제 홍보 콘텐츠로도 활용될 예정이다.
김정수 소리축제 집행위원장은 “AI 기술과 판소리가 만나 새로운 창작의 가능성을 보여주는 특별한 프로젝트”라며 “전통음악을 사랑하는 누구나 자신만의 이야기와 상상력을 담아 새로운 판소리를 만들어보는 기회가 되길 바란다”고 밝혔다.
