The 2026 Jeonju World Sound Festival (Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Choi Cheol, hereinafter referred to as the Sound Festival) will be held from August 12th to 16th for a period of five days at the Korea Sound Culture Hall and throughout Jeollabuk-do.
This year's Sound Festival marks its 25th anniversary, signifying a meaningful year for the festival. Building upon the artistic achievements and public values accumulated over the years, the festival is attempting a new leap forward.
Especially with the appointment of a new Chairman of the Organizing Committee (Choi Cheol) and Executive Director (Kim Jung-soo) earlier this year, along with a newly organized executive committee, efforts are being made to ensure that the festival becomes a trusted event for local artists, audiences, and the community.
The keyword for this year is 'Breath of Sound, Gathered on the Stage,' encapsulating the identity and expansiveness of the Sound Festival that began in 2001. Through the festival, they aim to express the history of sound over the past 25 years, encompassing traditional Korean music, music from around the world, and the transmission of sound from mouth to mouth, ear to ear. This year's festival selected the keyword to remind people of the spirit of gathering the breath of sound.
The poster for this year visualizes the diverse sounds and journeys embraced by the festival from 2001 to the 25th edition in 2026, using a color palette based on traditional five colors and a flow of intertwined lines representing the breath of those who have been part of the festival.
Choi Cheol, the new Chairman of the Organizing Committee, stated, "The Sound Festival is a valuable cultural asset of Jeollabuk-do that embraces tradition, globality, and contemporaneity. This year's festival will be a leap year to further develop the precious cultural asset of Jeollabuk-do. I will strive to make the remaining preparations successful."
Kim Jung-soo, the Executive Director, mentioned, "The Sound Festival is a meaningful event where our music and world music meet and communicate. This year's festival will be a stage where residents and audiences gather based on the experiences accumulated so far."
Meanwhile, the main programs and schedule will be announced through a program presentation event scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on the 16th at the International Conference Hall of the Korea Sound Culture Hall.

‘소리의 숨결, 모아 판으로’ 키워드 및 공식 포스터 공개
2026 전주세계소리축제(조직위원회 위원장 최철, 이하 소리축제)가 오는 8월 12일부터 16일까지 닷새간의 일정으로 한국소리문화의전당 및 전북특별자치도 일원에서 열린다.
올해 소리축제는 25회차를 맞는 뜻깊은 해로. 그동안 쌓아 온 축제의 예술적 성과와 공공적 가치를 바탕으로 새로운 도약의 전환을 시도하고 있다.
특히, 올해 초 새로운 조직위원장(최철)과 집행위원장(김정수)을 비롯해 새롭게 꾸며진 조직‧집행위원 등 집행부와 함께 지역의 예술가와 관객, 지역 사회가 함께 신뢰할 수 있는 축제 될 수 있도록 만반의 준비를 하고 있다.
올해 키워드는 ‘소리의 숨결, 모아 판으로’이며, 2001년부터 시작된 소리축제의 정체성과 확장성을 담았다. 소리축제를 통해 담아낸 우리 전통 음악과 세계 곳곳의 모든 음악, 그리고 사람들의 입에서 입으로, 귀에서 귀로 전해진 25주년의 소리의 역사를 표현하고자 했다. 올해 소리축제는 이러한 소리의 숨결을 모아 다시 모이는 판의 정신을 되새기고자 키워드를 선정했다.
이어 올해 포스터는 2001년부터 25회차를 맞은 2026년까지 축제가 품어온 다양한 소리와 그 여정을 함께한 이들의 숨결을 겹겹이 중첩된 선의 흐름과 전통 오방색을 기반으로 한 색채로 형상화했다.
얇은 선들이 만들어내는 밀도와 흐름은 수많은 숨결이 모여 하나의 '판'을 이루는 모습을 표현했으며, 반투명하게 중첩된 오색의 층위는 다양한 문화와 음악, 사람이 만나는 축제의 정체성을 담아내 2001년부터 이어져 온 축제의 역사 속에 축적된 기억과 감동, 그리고 세대를 넘어 계승되어 온 소리의 생명력을 시각적으로 구현했다.
최철 신임 조직위원장은 “소리축제는 전통을 기반으로 세계성과 동시대성을 함께 품은 전북의 소중한 문화자산이다. 올해 소리축제는 전북의 소중한 문화자산을 더욱더 발전시키는 도약의 해가 될 것”이라며 “남은 기간 만반의 준비를 통해 성공적인 축제가 될 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.
김정수 집행위원장은 “소리축제는 우리 음악과 세계 음악이 만나 소통해 온 의미 있는 축제”라며 “올해 소리축제는 그동안 축적해온 경험을 바탕으로 도민과 관객이 함께 모이는 판의 무대로 꾸미겠다”고 말했다.
한편, 주요 프로그램 및 일정은 오는 16일 오전 10시 30분, 한국소리문화의전당 국제회의장에서 진행되는 프로그램 발표회를 통해서 공개될 예정이다.
