Jeonju Cultural Foundation (CEO Choi Rak-gi) will be holding a workshop called 'Hanji Gol Dano Festival Fan Making Workshop' at the Jeonju Millennium Hanji Center to celebrate Dano.
Dano falls on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar and has been considered a day of good fortune and health, with various customs to ward off bad luck and pray for well-being. During the Joseon Dynasty, various items were given as gifts to court officials, and one of them was the traditional Dano fan, which was produced in Jeonju.
For this workshop, the intangible cultural heritage master of Banghwaseon, from North Jeolla Province, has been invited to guide participants. Attendees will experience the traditional process of making Dano fans by attaching hanji paper to bamboo frames and adding handles, allowing them to naturally experience the wisdom of ancestors and the value of traditional culture embodied in the Dano fan.
The workshop will take place on June 20th at the Jeonju Millennium Hanji Center, the day after Dano, and participation is possible through advance reservation. Anyone above elementary school age can participate, and there is no participation fee.
Additionally, the Jeonju Millennium Hanji Center will operate a traditional game area, including tuho (arrow throwing) and yutnori (traditional board game), for visitors to enjoy freely.
CEO Choi Rak-gi stated, "As a hotter summer than usual is expected this year, we have organized this workshop with wishes for health and well-being" and expressed hope that "participants will have a meaningful time to directly experience traditional culture, reflect on the significance of Dano, and remember our unique customs and traditions."
전주문화재단, 한지골 단오맞이 단선 워크숍’개최
전주문화재단(대표이사 최락기)이 단오를 맞이하여 전주천년한지관에서 전통 단오부채를 직접 만들어보는 ‘한지골 단오맞이 단선 만들기 워크숍’을 개최한다.
단오는 음력 5월 5일로, 예로부터 1년 중 양기가 가장 왕성한 날로 여겨져 액운을 막고 건강을 기원하는 다양한 풍속이 전해져 내려오고 있다. 조선시대에는 궁중에서 신하들에게 여러 하사품을 내렸는데, 그중 하나가 전주에서 제작돼 진상된 단오부채였다.
이번 워크숍은 전북특별자치도 무형유산인 방화선 선자장을 초청해 진행된다. 참여자들은 대나무 살 위에 한지를 붙이고 손잡이를 다는 등 전통 단선 제작 과정을 직접 체험하며, 단오부채에 담긴 선조들의 지혜와 전통문화의 가치를 자연스럽게 경험할 수 있다.
워크숍은 단오 다음 날인 6월 20일 전주천년한지관 한지방에서 진행되며, 사전 예약을 통해 참여할 수 있다. 초등학생 이상이면 누구나 참가 가능하며 참가비는 무료다.
이와 함께 전주천년한지관에서는 투호 던지기와 윷놀이 등 전통놀이 마당도 상시 운영해 방문객들이 자유롭게 즐길 수 있도록 할 예정이다.
