Jeonju Cultural Foundation (CEO Choi Rak-gi) will be hosting the 2026 Craft Week "Craftily" from the 19th to the 28th at the Jeonju Craft Exhibition Hall and the Jeonju Hanok Village.
This event is a regional planning program of the "2026 Craft Week (Korea Craft Week 2026)" sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Jeonju City, organized by the Korea Craft and Design Foundation and the Jeonju Cultural Foundation. Connecting Jeonju and Gochang, various programs such as exhibitions, tours, markets, experiences, and events will be presented for citizens and tourists to experience crafts as part of their daily culture.
During the event, a "Craft Fiesta" will also be held at the Jeonju Craft Exhibition Hall Sales Center, offering discounts of 10-30% on over 500 types of craft products.
The main program, the exhibition "Craftily, More," will be held at the Jeonju Craft Exhibition Hall's Majung Hall, Nuri Hall, and Exhibition 2 Hall. Under the theme of "Today, Life Piles Up," it will illuminate the time and experiences of life embedded in crafts, showcasing various aspects of traditional and contemporary crafts centered around Jeonju's representative hanji.
Designed to be an interactive event where citizens can experience crafts as part of their daily culture rather than just viewing exhibits, it highlights the value of traditional crafts and the activities of local craft artists, allowing visitors to create and enjoy crafts in their daily lives.
The exhibition will feature artists such as Kim Dong-sik, holder of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Sunjajang title, Kim Hye-mi-ja, holder of the Jeonbuk Intangible Cultural Heritage Saekjijang title, Yoon Gyu-sang, Bang Hwa-seon, Park Gap-sun, Kim Seon-ae, as well as Song Su-mi (silkscreen), Yeo Eun-hee (tapestry), Kwon Won-deok (wooden furniture), and Kang Ye-jin (French embroidery). Additionally, there will be a participatory program where visitors can write their wishes on hanji and attach them to a window structure to complete the exhibition space together.
Furthermore, the program "Craftily, Stroll" offers a craft healing tour program that connects the cultural resources of Jeonju and Gochang, providing experiences and cultural exploration linking Hanok Village, Palbok Art Factory, Seohae Road, and Gochang Eupseong.
"Craftily, Preserve" is a pop-up market for expanding the distribution channels of local craft brands and activating consumption, held at Deokjin Park in Jeonju in conjunction with the Jeonju Dano event.
Moreover, "Craftily, Connect" offers various craft experience programs such as hanji, ceramics, mother-of-pearl, and woodworking, allowing people of all ages to experience the joy of crafts.
During the event period, various participatory programs such as fusion traditional music and dance performances, on-site events, and more will be operated in the Jeonju Hanok Village area to enhance the festive atmosphere.
CEO Choi Rak-gi stated, "This Craft Week is an opportunity to show how closely crafts are intertwined with our lives," adding, "By connecting the cultural resources of Jeonju and Gochang, I hope this festival will widely promote the charm of local crafts and become a celebration where both citizens and tourists can enjoy crafts."
공예로 잇고, 공예로 즐기다... 2026 공예주간 ‘공예롭게’ 개최
전주문화재단(대표이사 최락기)이 오는 19일부터 28일까지 전주공예품전시관과 전주한옥마을 일원에서 2026 공예주간 「공예롭게」를 개최한다.
이번 행사는 문화체육관광부와 전주시가 주최하고 한국공예·디자인문화진흥원과 전주문화재단이 주관하는 ‘2026 공예주간(Korea Craft Week 2026)’의 권역별 기획 프로그램이다. 전주와 고창을 연계해 전시·투어·마켓·체험·이벤트 등 다양한 프로그램을 선보이며 시민과 관광객이 공예를 일상 속 문화로 경험할 수 있도록 마련됐다.
행사 기간에는 전주공예품전시관 판매관에서 500여 종의 공예상품을 10~30% 할인 판매하는 ‘공예 페스타’도 함께 진행된다.
대표 프로그램인 전시 「공예롭게, 보다」는 전주공예품전시관 마중관과 누리관, 전시2관에서 열린다. ‘인생이란 켜켜이 쌓이는 오늘’을 주제로 공예에 담긴 삶의 시간과 경험을 조명하며, 전주를 대표하는 한지를 중심으로 전통과 현대 공예의 다양한 면모를 선보인다.
단순한 전시품이 아닌 일상 속 문화로 경험할 수 있도록 기획된 시민 참여형 행사다. 전통 공예의 가치와 지역 공예인의 활동을 조명하는 동시에, 관람객이 직접 만들고 즐기며 공예를 생활 속에서 만날 수 있도록 구성됐다.
이번 전시에는 ▲국가무형유산 선자장 김동식 보유자와 ▲전북무형유산 색지장 김혜미자 ▲우산장 윤규상 ▲선자장 방화선, ▲지호장 박갑순 ▲지승장 김선애 보유자를 비롯해 ▲송수미(실크스크린) ▲여은희(타피스트리) ▲권원덕(목가구) ▲강예진(프랑스자수) 작가가 참여한다. 또한 관람객이 소원을 적은 한지를 창호 구조물에 붙이며 전시 공간을 함께 완성하는 참여형 프로그램도 마련된다.

「공예롭게, 거닐다」는 전주와 고창의 문화자원을 연결한 공예 힐링 투어 프로그램으로, 한옥마을과 팔복예술공장, 서해랑길, 고창읍성 등을 연계한 체험과 문화 탐방을 제공한다.
「공예롭게, 담다」는 지역 공예 브랜드의 판로 확대와 소비 활성화를 위한 팝업마켓으로, 전주덕진공원에서 열리는 전주단오 행사와 연계해 운영된다.
또한 「공예롭게, 잇다」에서는 한지, 도자, 자개, 목공예 등 다양한 공예 체험 프로그램이 진행돼 남녀노소 누구나 공예의 즐거움을 경험할 수 있다.
이 밖에도 행사 기간 전주한옥마을 일원에서는 퓨전국악과 댄스 공연, 현장 이벤트 등 다채로운 참여 프로그램이 운영돼 축제 분위기를 더할 예정이다.
최락기 재단 대표이사는 “이번 공예주간은 공예가 우리 삶과 얼마나 가까이 맞닿아 있는지를 보여주는 자리”라며 “전주와 고창의 문화자원을 연결해 지역 공예의 매력을 널리 알리고 시민과 관광객 모두가 공예를 즐길 수 있는 축제가 되길 기대한다”고 말했다.
