The Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province National Gugak Center Orchestra (hereinafter referred to as the Gugak Center) will present the 53rd regular concert 'Art Nouveau IV' at 7:30 pm on July 10th at the Hanok Cultural Center in Jeonju.
This performance, organized in collaboration with the Hanok Cultural Center, is the fourth stage of the Gugak Center Orchestra's representative brand work 'Art Nouveau' series, summarizing the flow of a long-term project that has been ongoing since 2023.
'Art Nouveau' means 'new art' in French, revealing the musical direction of the orchestra to create new music that can meet contemporary audiences while preserving the identity of traditional music. In particular, by reorganizing the narrative, emotions of characters, and flow of scenes inherent in pansori within the sound and structure of Korean classical music, they have established a unique direction called 'Pansori Symphony.'
This performance will feature major works presented through the 'Art Nouveau' series, including symphonic poems for Korean classical music
Artistic director Lee Yong-tak stated, "The Art Nouveau series is the Gugak Center Orchestra's representative creative project that expands traditional pansori and classical narratives into today's orchestral language," adding, "We will create a high-quality stage so that the creative repertoire accumulated by the orchestra can establish itself as a representative artistic asset of Jeonbuk."
전북도립국악원, 제53회 정기연주회 ‘아르누보Ⅳ’ 개최
전북특별자치도립국악원(이하 국악원) 관현악단(예술감독/이용탁)은 오는 7월 10일 오후 7시 30분, 한국소리문화의전당 모악당에서 제53회 정기연주회 ‘아르누보Ⅳ’를 선보인다.
한국소리문화의전당과 공동 기획으로 마련된 이번 공연은 관현악단의 대표 브랜드 작품인 ‘아르누보’ 시리즈의 네 번째 무대이자, 2023년부터 이어온 장기 프로젝트의 흐름을 집대성하는 무대다.
‘아르누보(Art Nouveau)’는 프랑스어로 ‘새로운 예술’을 의미하는 것으로 전통음악의 정체성을 지키면서도 동시대 관객과 만날 수 있는 새로운 음악을 만들어 가기 위한 관현악단의 음악적 방향성을 드러낸다. 특히 판소리가 지닌 서사성과 인물의 감정, 장면의 흐름을 국악관현악의 음향과 구조 안에서 다시 조직하며 ‘판소리 교향시’라는 독창적인 방향성을 구축해 왔다.
이번 공연은 국악관현악을 위한 교향시 <적벽>, <춘향>, <수궁가>, <심청>을 비롯해 관현악·합창·소리를 결합한 <맥베스>와 <해원(解寃)>까지, 그간 ‘아르누보’ 시리즈를 통해 선보였던 주요 작품들이 다시 무대에 오른다.
이용탁 예술감독은 “아르누보 시리즈는 전통 판소리와 고전 서사를 오늘의 관현악 언어로 확장해 온 관현악단의 대표 창작 프로젝트”라며 “관현악단이 축적해 온 창작 레퍼토리가 전북을 대표하는 예술 자산으로 자리 잡을 수 있도록 완성도 높은 무대를 만들겠다”고 덧붙였다.
