A Brunch Reading Challenge popup event will be held on the 11th at Mari Sosa and Jajook Gallery in Wolmyeong-dong, Gunsan. This event is jointly organized by Brunch, Mari Sosa, author Hwang Boreum, and Clay House Publishing as part of the Kakao Brunch Reading Challenge Project.
On the day of the popup event, Mari Sosa will be selling a special edition of "Welcome, Hyunam-dong Bookstore" and author Hwang Boreum will greet readers as the daily bookstore keeper. At Jajook Gallery, there will be an exhibition of the international edition cover of "Welcome, Hyunam-dong Bookstore" along with a participatory event where readers can add their own stories to the work.
Additionally, there will be nine popup bookshelves displaying books recommended by authors, bookstore staff, and characters from novels under the theme "Can I recommend a good book?" Authors like Hwang Boreum, Choi Young-geon, Shin Yoo-jin, Mari Sosa's CEO Im Hyun-joo and staff, and Graphic Shop's CEO Kim Kwang-chul personally selected the books.
The shelves will feature works by Hwang Boreum, books that inspired creators, and recommended books curated from the perspectives of characters like Minjun and Jungseo in the novel.
The popup event will run simultaneously at Mari Sosa and Jajook Gallery. Mari Sosa will be open from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm, and Jajook Gallery from 9:30 am to 7:30 pm for anyone to freely visit. (After 5:00 pm at Mari Sosa, an "Open Talk" event is scheduled for those who have made prior reservations.) Visitors who complete a stamp rally at Mari Sosa and Jajook Gallery will receive a drip bag coffee as a gift. The drip bag coffee is a gift from the barista Minjun in the novel "Welcome, Hyunam-dong Bookstore."
Im Hyun-joo, the CEO of Mari Sosa, said, "We have prepared various recommended bookshelves so that even those who find books intimidating can approach them without pressure," and expressed hope that the event will be an experience where books and people naturally connect, allowing anyone to become a reader.
군산 마리서사와 자주적관람, 브런치 독서챌린지 마리서사 팝업 개최
군산 월명동 마리서사와 자주적관람에서 브런치 독서챌린지 마리서사 팝업이 11일 개최된다. 이번 행사는 카카오 브런치 독서챌린지 프로젝트의 일환으로 브런치, 마리서사, 황보름 작가, 클레이하우스 출판사가 공동으로 운영한다.
팝업 당일 마리서사에서는 『어서 오세요, 휴남동 서점입니다』의 마리서사 특별판을 판매하며, 황보름 작가가 일일 책방지기로 나서 독자들을 맞이한다. 자주적관람에서는 『어서 오세요, 휴남동 서점입니다』의 해외 출간본 표지 전시와 함께, 독자가 작품에 자신의 이야기를 더할 수 있는 참여형 이벤트를 운영한다.
뿐만 아니라 ‘좋은 책을 추천할 수 있을까?’라는 주제로 작가, 서점원, 소설 속 등장인물이 추천한 책을 전시하는 9개의 팝업 서가가 펼쳐진다. 『어서 오세요, 휴남동 서점입니다』의 저자 황보름 작가를 비롯해 최영건·신유진 작가, 마리서사 임현주 대표와 스태프, 그래픽숍 김광철 대표 등이 직접 책을 골랐다.
서가에는 황보름 작가의 작품은 물론 창작자들에게 영감을 준 책, 소설 속 인물인 민준과 정서의 시선으로 구성한 추천 도서 등을 만나볼 수 있다.
팝업은 마리서사와 자주적관람 두 공간에서 동시에 운영된다. 마리서사는 오전 9시 30분부터 오후 5시까지, 자주적관람은 오전 9시 30분부터 오후 7시 30분까지 누구나 자유롭게 방문할 수 있다. (5시 이후에 마리서사에서는 사전 예약한 이들과 함께하는 ‘오픈 토크’가 예정되어 있다.) 마리서사와 자주적관람을 방문하고 스탬프를 완성하면 드립백 커피를 증정하는 이벤트를 진행한다. 드립백 커피는 『어서 오세요, 휴남동 서점입니다』 소설 속 바리스타 민준의 선물이다.
임현주 마리서사 대표는 "책을 어렵게 느끼는 사람들도 부담 없이 다가올 수 있도록 다양한 추천 서가를 준비했다"며 "책과 사람이 자연스럽게 연결되고, 누구나 독자가 되는 경험을 할 수 있는 행사가 되길 바란다"고 말했다.
