6th grade student Gukdongha from Gosan Elementary School in Wanju County won 4 medals in the apparatus gymnastics category at the 55th National Youth Sports Competition, placing 3rd in the individual all-around.
At this competition, Gukdongha won a gold medal in the parallel bars, silver medals in the vault, rings, and horizontal bar events. The number of medals doubled compared to the previous national youth sports competition, and the individual all-around ranking also increased by one step.
Gukdongha said, "I had many tough times during intense training, but every time I surpassed my limits, I felt a sense of accomplishment, and the encouragement from my neighbors was a great source of strength."
Principal Lee Misoog of Gosan Elementary School said, "It is impressive and proud that Dongha, who overcame the battle with himself, will grow into a leading figure in the Korean gymnastics scene. We will support him to grow into a pillar leading the Korean gymnastics community."
Wanju County Mayor Kook Hyesoog also said, "Gukdongha is the future and a great asset of Wanju," adding, "We will continue to support him so that he can pursue his dreams healthily in the future."
완주군 고산초 국동하 학생, 전국소년체전 기계체조 4개 메달 획득
완주군 고산초등학교 6학년 국동하 학생이 제55회 전국소년체육대회 기계체조 부문에서 4개의 메달을 획득하며 개인 종합 3위에 올랐다.
국동하 학생은 이번 대회에서 평행봉 금메달, 안마 은메달, 링 은메달, 철봉 은메달을 각각 목에 걸었다. 지난 전국소년체전보다 메달 수는 두 배로 늘었고, 개인 종합 순위도 한 계단 상승했다.
국동하 학생은 “고된 훈련으로 힘들 때도 많았지만, 한계를 조금씩 넘어설 때마다 성취감을 느꼈고 이웃들의 격려가 큰 힘이 됐다”고 소감을 밝혔다.
이미숙 고산초 교장은 “자신과의 싸움을 이겨낸 동하 선수가 대견하고 자랑스럽다”며 “대한민국 체조계를 이끌어갈 재목으로 성장할 수 있도록 지원하겠다”고 말했다.
국혜숙 고산면장도 “국동하 선수는 완주의 미래이자 큰 자산”이라며 “앞으로도 건강하게 꿈을 펼쳐나갈 수 있도록 응원하겠다”고 말했다.
