The Wanjoo County Out-of-School Youth Support Center is currently implementing the 'Vroom Vroom Wanjoo Road' project to support out-of-school youth in obtaining driver's licenses, with all 4 participants in the first phase having successfully obtained their licenses.
'Vroom Vroom Wanjoo Road' is a 2026 Wanjoo County Children's Participation Budget project designed to enhance the self-reliance capabilities of out-of-school youth and assist them in entering society.
To carry out the project, the center signed a business agreement with Songcheon Driving School and recruited and selected participating youth. The participants completed 10 basic education courses on independence, including economics, finance, labor rights, safety, and adult emotional intelligence, before participating in the driver's license acquisition process.
As a result, all 4 participants in the first phase successfully obtained their licenses, and currently, 2 participants in the second phase are progressing through the process. This year, a total of 8 youth are participating in the project with the goal of obtaining their licenses.
One youth who obtained their license said, "I always dreamed of getting a driver's license but never had an easy opportunity to challenge it," adding, "Through this project, I gained confidence and it seems like it will be a great help in preparing for my future career."
Park Hyun-jung, the center director, expressed hope that "obtaining a driver's license will serve as a practical stepping stone for out-of-school youth to prepare for independence and social integration."
완주 학교 밖 청소년 운전면허 지원사업, 1차 참여자 전원 합격
완주군학교밖청소년지원센터가 추진 중인 학교 밖 청소년 운전면허 취득 지원사업 ‘부릉부릉 완주로드’ 1차 참여자 4명 전원이 운전면허를 취득했다.
‘부릉부릉 완주로드’는 학교 밖 청소년의 자립 역량을 강화하고 사회 진입을 돕기 위해 마련된 2026년 완주군 아동참여예산 사업이다.
센터는 사업 추진을 위해 송천자동차운전전문학원과 업무협약을 맺고 참여 청소년을 모집·선발했다. 참여자들은 경제·금융, 노동인권, 안전, 성인지 감수성 등 자립에 필요한 10종의 기초 소양 교육을 이수한 뒤 운전면허 취득 과정에 참여했다.
그 결과 1차 참여자 4명이 모두 면허를 취득했으며, 현재 2차 참여자 2명이 과정을 진행하고 있다. 올해는 총 8명의 청소년이 면허 취득을 목표로 사업에 참여한다.
면허를 취득한 한 청소년은 “평소 운전면허 취득을 꿈꿨지만 쉽게 도전할 기회가 없었다”며 “이번 사업을 통해 자신감을 얻었고, 진로를 준비하는 데도 큰 도움이 될 것 같다”고 말했다.
박현정 센터장은 “운전면허 취득이 학교 밖 청소년들의 자립과 사회 진입을 준비하는 실질적인 디딤돌이 되길 바란다”고 밝혔다.
