Gunsan City will host the '2026 Gunsan Amateur eSports Competition' at Gunsan Wolmyeong Gymnasium on the 11th at 10 a.m.
This competition is organized to promote a healthy gaming culture that youth and citizens can participate in together, as well as to activate local eSports. It will be operated with various programs that players, spectators, and family visitors can enjoy together.
The competition will consist of games such as League of Legends, Valorant finals and finals, and a Brawl Stars on-site competition.
In particular, the Minecraft event will be conducted in a 'Building Gunsan City' manner, where participants creatively express and compete using Gunsan's cultural and tourism resources in the virtual space of the game.
The event venue will also have additional activities such as arcade games, board games, game experience zones, and laser tag, allowing children, teenagers, and family visitors to enjoy together.
The event will proceed with a pre-performance and opening ceremony, followed by eSports finals and finals, an award ceremony, and a prize draw.
A Gunsan City official said, "eSports is a cultural content and a future growth industry that generations can empathize and enjoy together," and expressed hope that "this competition will help spread a healthy gaming culture and promote Gunsan's culture and tourism."
군산시, 11일 아마추어 e스포츠대회 개최
군산시는 오는 11일 오전 10시 군산월명체육관에서 ‘2026 군산 아마추어 e스포츠대회’를 개최한다.
이번 대회는 청소년과 시민이 함께 참여하는 건전한 게임문화 조성과 지역 e스포츠 활성화를 위해 마련됐다. 선수와 관람객, 가족 단위 방문객이 함께 즐길 수 있는 다양한 프로그램으로 운영된다.
대회 종목은 리그 오브 레전드, 발로란트 본선 및 결승전, 브롤스타즈 현장대회 등으로 구성됐다.
특히 마인크래프트 종목은 게임 속 가상공간에 군산의 대표 명소와 풍경을 구현하는 ‘군산시 만들기’ 방식으로 진행된다. 참가자들은 군산의 문화와 관광자원을 창의적으로 표현하며 경쟁하게 된다.
행사장에는 아케이드게임, 보드게임, 게임 체험존, 레이저태그 등 부대행사도 마련돼 어린이와 청소년, 가족 단위 방문객들이 함께 즐길 수 있다.
행사는 식전공연과 개회식을 시작으로 e스포츠 본선 및 결승전, 시상식, 경품추첨 순으로 진행된다.
군산시 관계자는 “e스포츠는 세대가 함께 공감하고 즐길 수 있는 문화콘텐츠이자 미래 성장산업”이라며 “이번 대회가 건전한 게임문화를 확산하고 군산의 문화와 관광을 알리는 계기가 되길 기대한다”고 말했다.
