Photographer Seong Chang-ho, who has been constructing a unique world of photography by expressing travel, memories, wounds, and reconciliation through his photos, is seeking visitors for his new exhibition.
From the 14th to the 19th, Seong Chang-ho's photo exhibition 'There_Variations' will be held at the Seohakdong Photo Art Museum in Jeonju.
This exhibition is a continuation of the photo exhibition 'There_Paris' presented to the public three years ago. Going beyond the framework of travel photos simply recording the landscapes of a city, it provides an opportunity to glimpse into the deep inner world of the artist, capturing time, memories, wounds, and reconciliation.
Since winter 2013 until summer 2024, Seong Chang-ho has held five solo exhibitions in succession, recording streets, people, and landscapes from his unique perspective. Although he has presented different images and themes over time, this exhibition unfolds the story of 'There,' which was the origin and starting point of all his past works, as one grand flow.
In order to understand and forgive his past self, the artist visited Paris several times and captured that journey with his camera. If the previous exhibition 'There_Paris' was a somewhat melancholic record of facing his unforgiven self, 'There_Variations' is the result of a process of looking back on life and memories over a long period of time, finally comforting oneself.
The exhibition is open from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Regular closure is on Mondays.
파리에서의 상처, 삶을 통과한 위로로… 성창호 사진전 ‘그 곳_변주’ 개막
여행과 기억, 상처와 화해를 사진으로 풀어내며 독창적인 사진 세계를 구축해 온 성창호 작가가 새로운 전시로 관람객을 찾는다.
전주 서학동사진미술관에서는 14일부터 19일까지 성창호 사진전 ‘그 곳_변주’展이 개최된다.
이번 전시는 3년 전 대중에게 선보였던 사진전 ‘그 곳_파리’의 연장선에 있는 작업이다. 단순히 한 도시의 풍경을 기록한 여행 사진의 틀을 넘어, 시간과 기억, 상처와 화해를 담아낸 작가의 깊은 내면을 들여다볼 수 있는 기회다.
성창호 작가는 2013년 겨울부터 2024년 여름까지 다섯 차례의 개인전을 이어오며 거리와 사람, 풍경을 자신만의 시선으로 기록해 왔다. 그동안 서로 다른 이미지와 주제를 선보인 듯하지만, 이번 전시에서는 과거 모든 작업의 근원이자 출발점이었던 '그 곳'에 대한 이야기를 하나의 거대한 흐름으로 풀어낸다.
작가는 과거의 자신을 이해하고 용서하기 위해 여러 차례 파리를 찾았고, 그 여정을 카메라에 담았다. 이전 전시인 ‘그 곳_파리’가 아직 화해하지 못한 자신을 마주한 다소 우울한 기록이었다면, 이번 ‘그 곳_변주’는 오랜 시간을 지나 삶과 기억을 다시 바라보며 비로소 스스로를 위로하는 과정이 담긴 결과물이다.
관람 시간은 오전 10시 30분부터 오후 6시까지이다. 매주 월요일은 정기 휴관이다.
