Wonkwang University announced that it will expand AI services to allow approximately 18,000 students and faculty members to utilize artificial intelligence in various aspects of university life such as learning, career development, research, and administration.
Since 2024, Wonkwang University has been gradually introducing AI-based services. They have been operating AI chatbots to enhance information accessibility for members, an AI career support system to assist in career planning and job preparation, and providing AI literacy education to establish a foundation for AI utilization.
This expansion aims to enhance existing services, establish a culture of AI utilization throughout the university, and support students in tasks, career preparation, professors in lecture material creation and course design, and staff in streamlining repetitive administrative tasks through AI.
Wonkwang University views AI not as a specialized skill for specific majors or individuals but as a fundamental competency that all members should possess, and plans to provide universal educational opportunities.
President Park Sung-tae stated, "AI is now becoming a fundamental competency that all members should possess," and expressed the university's commitment to supporting students and faculty in understanding and utilizing AI to propel the university forward as an AI innovative institution.
In the future, Wonkwang University plans to integrate existing services such as AI chatbots and AI career support systems, and pursue the establishment of a futuristic smart campus by reflecting the utilization experiences of members.
원광대, 전 구성원 대상 AI 서비스 확대
원광대학교는 전체 학생과 교직원 약 1만8,000명이 학습, 진로, 연구, 행정 등 대학 생활 전반에서 인공지능을 활용할 수 있도록 AI 서비스를 확대한다고 밝혔다.
원광대는 2024년부터 AI 기반 서비스를 단계적으로 도입해 왔다. 구성원의 정보 접근성을 높이기 위한 AI 챗봇, 진로 설계와 취업 준비를 지원하는 AI 진로취업지원시스템, AI 리터러시 교육 등을 운영하며 AI 활용 기반을 마련해 왔다.
이번 확대 조치는 기존 서비스를 고도화하고 대학 전반에 AI 활용 문화를 정착시키기 위한 것이다. 학생은 과제 수행과 진로·취업 준비에, 교수는 강의자료 제작과 수업 설계에, 직원은 반복 행정업무 효율화에 AI를 활용할 수 있도록 지원한다.
원광대는 AI를 특정 전공이나 일부 인원만의 기술이 아니라 모든 구성원이 갖춰야 할 기본 역량으로 보고, 보편적인 교육 기회를 제공한다는 계획이다.
박성태 총장은 “AI는 이제 모든 구성원이 갖춰야 할 기본 역량이 되고 있다”며 “학생과 교직원 모두가 AI를 이해하고 활용할 수 있도록 지원해 AI 혁신대학으로 발돋움하겠다”고 말했다.
원광대는 앞으로 AI 챗봇과 AI 진로취업지원시스템 등 기존 서비스를 연계하고, 구성원의 활용 경험을 반영해 미래형 스마트 캠퍼스 구축을 추진할 방침이다.
