National Gunsan University announced that 17 students from the Department of Industrial Design won awards at the '2026 International Design Trend Exhibition,' including one special award, six selections, and ten honorable mentions.
The International Design Trend Exhibition is an international design competition sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute of Design Promotion, and organized by the Korea Design Trend Society.
The award winners of this competition include Kim Eun-jin (2nd year) who won the special award, Park Ye-seul (4th year), Jeon Min-young (2nd year), Go Ha-eun-jin (2nd year), Kim Jung-min (2nd year), Jang Ji-awei (graduate student), Shui Shui-e-chai (graduate student), and honorable mentions such as Ahn Jung-a (3rd year), Han Si-heon (3rd year), Oh Hyun-bin (3rd year), Jo Soo-jin (3rd year), Kim Seo-jin (2nd year), Chae Kyung-min (2nd year), Bae Eun-bin (2nd year), Baek Geon (2nd year), and Choi Dae-hyun (2nd year).
The work 'Forest Network' by Kim Eun-jin, a 2nd-year student in the Department of Industrial Design who won the special award at this competition, is an interior textile design that views the forest as a connected organism from an ecological perspective.
The piece received praise for visually expressing the connectivity and coexistence value of ecosystems by organically reconfiguring natural elements such as branches, moss, vines, and leaves into patterns.
Kim Eun-jin said, "Preparing for the competition allowed me to solidify ideas and contemplate various expressions of textile design," adding, "I want to continue participating in artistic activities and competitions to enhance my design skills."
The Department of Industrial Design at National Gunsan University operates its curriculum focusing on design capabilities demanded in the industry and strives to cultivate practical talents in various fields such as interior design, mobility, and daily necessities.

국립군산대학교는 산업디자인학부 학생들이 ‘2026 국제디자인트렌드대전’에서 특별상 1명, 특선 6명, 입선 10명 등 총 17명이 수상했다고 밝혔다.
국제디자인트렌드대전은 산업통상자원부와 한국디자인진흥원이 후원하고 한국디자인트렌드학회가 주최하는 국제 규모의 디자인 공모전이다.
이번 대회 수상자는 특별상 김은진(2학년), 특선 박예슬(4학년), 전민영(2학년), 고하은진(2학년), 김정민(2학년), 장지아웨이(대학원), 쉬쉬에차이(대학원), 입선 안정아(3학년), 한시헌(3학년), 오현빈(3학년), 조수진(3학년), 김서진(2학년), 채경민(2학년), 배은빈(2학년), 백건(2학년), 최대현(2학년) 등이다.
이번 대회에서 특별상을 수상한 산업디자인학부 2학년 김은진 학생의 작품 ‘Forest Network’는 숲을 하나의 연결된 생명체로 바라보는 생태적 관점에서 출발한 인테리어용 텍스타일 디자인이다.
작품은 나뭇가지, 이끼, 덩굴, 잎 등 자연 요소를 유기적인 패턴으로 재구성해 생태계의 연결성과 공존의 가치를 시각적으로 표현했다는 평가를 받았다.
김은진 학생은 “공모전을 준비하면서 아이디어를 구체화하고 텍스타일 디자인의 다양한 표현 방법을 고민할 수 있었다”며 “앞으로도 작품 활동과 공모전에 꾸준히 참여하며 디자인 역량을 키우고 싶다”고 말했다.
국립군산대 산업디자인학부는 산업 현장에서 요구되는 디자인 역량을 중심으로 교육과정을 운영하고 있으며, 인테리어·모빌리티·생활 소재 등 다양한 분야의 실무형 인재 양성에 힘쓰고 있다.
