The Jeonju Girls' High School Alumni Association announced the inauguration of Choi Kyung-eun as the new president at the inauguration and the establishment ceremony of the 15th executive committee held at the Ongeul Hall of the La Han Hotel in Jeonju on the 21st.
Under the theme 'Leading a sustainable future with the pride of a hundred years as Yeongran people,' the event was attended by about 300 people, including Chun Ho-sung, the former superintendent of Jeollabuk-do Education Office, former alumni association presidents, officials from the centennial commemorative project association, school principals, and alumni, who congratulated the launch of the new executive branch.
Yoo Jung-hwa, the 14th president, stated that during the past two years, she led the alumni reconciliation, support for the alma mater, and the centennial commemorative project, raising a fund of 2.5 billion won, surpassing the target amount, to promote four major vision projects and commemorative projects. She then urged for the continuous interest and participation of alumni to ensure the smooth completion of the long-awaited project of building a library for the centennial anniversary.
The 15th alumni association plans to strengthen its organization in areas such as general affairs, finance, planning, publicity, culture, and volunteering until May 2028, promoting support for the alma mater, intergenerational exchange, and volunteer activities systematically.
Choi Kyung-eun, the new president, stated, "Building on the achievements of the centennial anniversary, I will take the first step towards a new 100 years," and added, "I will successfully complete the remaining commemorative projects such as the library construction and create a sustainable alumni association that adapts to the changing times."
Superintendent Chun Ho-sung remarked, "Jeonju Girls' High School is a school that represents not only Jeollabuk-do but also the Republic of Korea," and expressed, "I will spare no effort in supporting current students to pursue even greater dreams, continuing the school's 100-year tradition."
Established in 1926 as the Jeonju Public Girls' High School, Jeonju Girls' High School has been the cradle of women's education in Jeollabuk-do, producing over 33,000 graduates. In May of last year, the centennial commemorative hall was opened, and the commemorative tower was unveiled, commemorating a century of history. With the inauguration ceremony of the alumni association as a new starting point, the school is now embarking on a new leap towards the next 100 years.

전주여고 총동창회가 21일 전주 라한호텔 온고을홀에서 총동창회장 이·취임식과 제15대 임원 출범식을 열고 최경은 신임 회장 체제의 출범을 알렸다.
'백년의 긍지로 지속가능한 미래를 이끄는 영란인'을 주제로 열린 이날 행사에는 천호성 전북특별자치도교육감을 비롯해 역대 총동창회장, 개교 100주년 기념사업회 관계자, 학교장, 동문 등 300여 명이 참석해 새 집행부의 출발을 축하했다.
유정화 제14대 회장은 지난 2년간 동문 화합과 모교 지원, 개교 100주년 기념사업을 이끌며 목표액을 웃도는 25억 원의 기금을 조성해 4대 비전사업과 기념사업을 추진했다고 밝혔다. 이어 개교 100주년 숙원사업인 도서관 건립이 차질 없이 마무리될 수 있도록 동문들의 지속적인 관심과 참여를 당부했다.
제15대 총동창회는 2028년 5월까지 활동하며 총무·재무·기획·홍보·문화·봉사 등 조직을 강화해 모교 지원과 세대 간 교류, 봉사활동을 체계적으로 추진할 계획이다.
최경은 신임 회장은 "개교 100주년의 성과를 바탕으로 새로운 100년을 향한 첫걸음을 내딛겠다"며 "도서관 건립 등 남은 기념사업을 성공적으로 마무리하고 시대 변화에 발맞춘 지속가능한 동창회를 만들어가겠다"고 말했다.
천호성 교육감은 "전주여고는 전북을 넘어 대한민국을 대표하는 학교"라며 "100년 전통을 이어갈 재학생들이 더 큰 꿈을 펼칠 수 있도록 지원을 아끼지 않겠다"고 밝혔다.
1926년 전주공립여자고등보통학교로 출발한 전주여고는 지금까지 3만3000여 명의 졸업생을 배출한 전북 여성교육의 산실이다. 지난 5월 개교 100주년 기념관 개관과 기념탑 제막 등을 통해 한 세기의 역사를 기념했으며, 이번 총동창회 이·취임식을 계기로 미래 100년을 향한 새로운 도약에 나섰다.
