Jeonju Cultural Foundation is actively embarking on the modern spread and increased accessibility of K-sound (traditional Korean music) utilizing future technology as part of the 'Republic of Korea Cultural City Development Project'.
The foundation announced that it will host the 'Dive to Fusion: Mangae - 2026 AI Korean Music Crossover Composition Contest' to discover next-generation K-content that integrates generative AI technology and traditional Korean music, and has started accepting submissions.
This year marks the third edition of the contest, which is not limited to one-time events but is continuously pursued, proving substantial growth in the innovative attempt of 'AI and Korean music integration'. Following the inaugural event 'THE BEGINNING' in 2024 and 'Creation' in 2025, this year's subtitle 'Mangae' was confirmed, expressing the hope for continuous technological and artistic experiments to bear fruit and blossom widely in the world.
The contest targets fusion songs that include lyrics created by combining generative AI composition programs (SUNO, MUSIA.AI, Soundraw, etc.) by more than 50% and essential Korean music elements. Any individual or team, regardless of age, experience, or location, who loves Jeonju City and Korean traditional music can participate.
This year, a 'SNS Upload Promotion Bonus Point System' was introduced to encourage voluntary participation of applicants. If applicants upload their submitted music or work videos on their personal SNS (Instagram, YouTube, etc.) tagging the required hashtags (#FutureCulturalCityJeonju, #DiveToFusion, #AIKoreanMusic) and the Jeonju Cultural City account, they will receive an additional 10 points during the final expert evaluation.
A total of 7 works will be awarded, with a total prize money of 10 million won, including ▲1 Grand Prize team (4 million won and a trophy) ▲2 Excellence Prize teams (each 2 million won and a trophy) ▲4 Outstanding Prize teams (each 500,000 won and a trophy). The selected works will be widely utilized in various promotional projects representing 'Future Cultural City Jeonju', such as music video production, album distribution, and citizen-participatory contents.
The submission period is from July 23 to August 20, and submissions will be accepted via Google Form from August 17 to August 20. Following the first and second expert evaluations and blind evaluations by a citizen audience evaluation team, the final award-winning works will be announced in mid-October.
An official from Jeonju Cultural Foundation stated, “Amidst numerous contests that disappear after one-time events, we were able to solidly nurture the project for the third year thanks to the passionate challenges shown by participants and the significant interest of citizens during the previous contests.” They added, “Just like the subtitle 'Mangae', we ask for active participation and interest to allow creators' challenging and innovative ideas to bloom and flow into the world.”

전주문화재단, 2026 AI 국악 크로스오버 작곡 공모전 개최
전주문화재단이 ‘대한민국 문화도시 조성사업’의 일환으로 미래기술을 활용한K-소리(국악)의 현대적 확산과 대중적 접근성 확대에 본격 나선다
재단은 생성형 AI 기술과 국악을 융합한 차세대 K-콘텐츠를 발굴하기 위해 ‘다이브 투 퓨전 : 만개[滿開] - 2026 AI 국악 크로스오버 작곡 공모전’을 개최하고 작품 접수를 시작한다고 밝혔다.
올해로 3회째를 맞이하는 이번 공모전은 단발성 행사에 그치지 않고 지속적으로 추진되며 ‘AI와 국악의 접목’이라는 혁신적 시도의 내실 있는 성장을 증명하고 있다. 지난 2024년 첫 출발을 알린 ‘THE BEGINNING’과 2025년 ‘창발(創發)’에 이어, 올해는 지속적인 기술·예술적 실험이 세상에 결실을 맺고 활짝 피어나길 바라는 마음을 담아 부제를 ‘만개[滿開]’로 확정했다.
이번 공모전은 생성형 AI 작곡 프로그램(SUNO, MUSIA.AI, Soundraw 등)을 50% 이상 활용하고, 국악 요소를 필수적으로 결합한 가사 포함 창작 퓨전 곡을 대상으로 한다. 전주시와 국악을 사랑하는 대한민국 국민이라면 연령, 경력, 지역 제한 없이 누구나 개인 또는 팀으로 응모할 수 있다.
특히 올해는 지원자들의 자발적 참여를 유도하기 위해 ‘SNS 업로드 홍보 가산점 제도’를 신설했다. 지원자가 개인 SNS(인스타그램, 유튜브 등)에 필수 해시태그(#미래문화도시전주, #다이브투퓨전, #AI국악 등) 및 문화도시 전주 계정을 태그하여 출품작 음원이나 작업 영상을 업로드할 경우, 최종 전문가 심사 시 10점의 가산점이 부여된다.
시상 규모는 총 7개 작품, 총상금 1,000만 원으로 ▲대상 1팀(400만 원 및 상패) ▲최우수상 2팀(각 200만 원 및 상패) ▲우수상 4팀(각 50만 원 및 상패)을 선발한다. 최종 선정된 작품은 향후 뮤직비디오 제작, 앨범 유통, 시민 참여형 콘텐츠 등 ‘미래문화도시 전주’를 대표하는 다양한 홍보 프로젝트에 폭넓게 활용될 예정이다.
공모 기간은 7월 23일부터 8월 20일까지이며, 작품 접수는 8월 17일부터 8월 20일까지 구글폼을 통해 진행된다. 1·2차 전문가 심사와 시민 청중평가단의 블라인드 평가를 거쳐 오는 10월 중 최종 수상작을 발표할 계획이다.
전주문화재단 관계자는 “일회성 이벤트로 사라지는 수많은 공모전 사이에서 3년째 사업을 내실 있게 키울 수 있었던 것은 지난 공모전 동안 열정적인 도전을 보여주신 참가자들과 시민들의 큰 관심 덕분”이라며, “부제인 ‘만개’처럼 창작자들의 도전적이고 혁신적인 아이디어가 세상에 흐드러지게 피어날 수 있도록 많은 참여와 관심을 부탁드린다”고 전했다.
