The Jeonju World Sound Festival (organized by Chairman Choi Cheol, hereinafter referred to as the Sound Festival) held the inauguration ceremony for the 2026 Sound Festival volunteers, known as 'Sound Angels,' on the afternoon of the 29th at 2 p.m. at the International Conference Hall of the Korean Sound Culture Center, marking the official start of their activities.
Around 100 Sound Angels will play a crucial role in connecting the festival and the audience by actively participating in various fields such as supporting venue operations during the festival, guiding visitors, and engaging in promotional activities. They will not only support the smooth operation of the festival but also interact with the audience at the closest level to create the first impression of the Sound Festival.
The inauguration ceremony on that day opened with a welcoming video message from Governor Lee Won-taek of Jeollabuk-do, followed by words of encouragement from Chairman Choi Cheol and the oath-taking ceremony by a representative of the Sound Angels. In the oath, representing all volunteers, they pledged to create a safe and successful festival based on a sense of responsibility and volunteer spirit, expressing their determination towards active participation.
Following the event, detailed training was conducted to enhance practical skills before the volunteers are deployed to the festival site. The Sound Angels completed common training on festival programs, venue operation systems, ticketing systems, visitor reception methods, and then shared responsibilities, activity schedules, and operational methods through team orientations to increase their adaptability on-site.
After receiving specialized safety training on disaster response and emergency treatment at the Jeollabuk-do 119 Safety Experience Center on the 31st, the Sound Angels will continue their activities at various locations of the festival site from August 11, one day before the festival opening, until the 16th. They are expected to support the smooth operation of the festival in various fields such as venue operation support, visitor guidance, program assistance, and SNS promotion.
Chairman Choi Cheol of the Sound Festival said, "The Sound Angels are not just mere volunteers but the face of the Sound Festival that the audience will first meet and remember the longest," adding, "I expect your warm smiles and responsible activities to enhance the dignity of the festival and provide an unforgettable experience for the audience."
Meanwhile, the 2026 Sound Festival, themed 'Breath of Sound, Gathered on a Stage,' will take place from August 12 (Wednesday) to 16 (Sunday) for five days at the Korean Sound Culture Center and various locations in Jeollabuk-do. It will feature a variety of performances and participation programs encompassing traditional music including pansori, world music, sound fringe, children's sound festival, aiming to engage audiences of all generations.

전주세계소리축제(조직위원장 최철, 이하 소리축제)는 지난 29일 오후 2시 한국소리문화의전당 국제회의장에서 2026 소리축제 자원활동가 ‘소리천사’발대식을 개최하고 공식 활동의 시작을 알렸다.
100여 명의 소리천사는 축제 기간 공연장 운영 지원과 관람객 안내, 홍보 활동 등 다양한 분야에서 활약하며 축제와 관객을 연결하는 핵심 역할을 맡는다. 축제의 원활한 운영을 뒷받침하는 것은 물론, 가장 가까운 곳에서 관람객과 소통하며 소리축제의 첫인상을 만들어갈 예정이다.
이날 발대식은 이원택 전북특별자치도지사의 환영 영상으로 문을 열었으며, 최철 조직위원장의 격려사와 소리천사 대표 선서가 이어졌다. 대표 선서에서는 모든 자원활동가를 대표해 책임감과 봉사정신을 바탕으로 안전하고 성공적인 축제를 만들겠다는 의지를 다짐하며 본격적인 활동을 향한 각오를 밝혔다.
행사 이후에는 축제 현장 투입에 앞서 실무 역량을 높이기 위한 세부 교육이 진행됐다. 소리천사들은 축제 프로그램과 공연장 운영 체계, 티켓 시스템, 관람객 응대 방법 등 공통 교육을 이수했으며, 이후 팀별 오리엔테이션을 통해 담당 업무와 활동 일정, 운영 방식 등을 공유하며 현장 적응력을 높였다.
소리천사들은 31일 전북특별자치도119안전체험관에서 재난 대응과 응급처치 등 전문 안전교육을 받은 뒤, 본 축제 개막 하루 전인 8월 11일부터 16일까지 축제 현장 곳곳에서 활동을 이어간다. 공연장 운영 지원을 비롯해 관람객 안내, 프로그램 진행 보조, SNS 홍보 등 다양한 분야에서 축제의 원활한 운영을 지원할 예정이다.
최철 소리축제 조직위원장은 “소리천사는 단순한 자원활동가를 넘어 관객이 가장 먼저 만나고 가장 오래 기억하게 될 소리축제의 얼굴”이라며 “여러분의 따뜻한 미소와 책임감 있는 활동이 축제의 품격을 높이고 관객들에게 잊지 못할 경험을 선사하는 힘이 될 것으로 기대한다”고 말했다.
한편, 2026 소리축제는 ‘소리의 숨결, 모아 판으로’를 주제로 8월 12일(수)부터 16일(일)까지 닷새간 한국소리문화의전당과 전북특별자치도 일원에서 열린다. 판소리를 비롯한 전통음악과 월드뮤직, 소리프린지, 어린이 소리축제 등 세대를 아우르는 다양한 공연과 참여 프로그램으로 관객들을 만날 예정이다.
