Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province has launched a cooperation system to promote regional mutual growth and tangible development for the first time since the inauguration of the 9th local government administration.
The province announced that on the 13th and 14th, a two-day event titled 'Transition to Citizen Sovereignty of the 9th Local Government Administration: Provincial-City/County Mutual Growth Policy Rounding' was held at the Auleum Campus in Jeongeup, with Governor Lee Wan-taek and 14 mayors, county executives, provincial and city/county officials in attendance.
This event, where the province and 14 cities and counties gathered for the first time since the inauguration of the 9th local government administration, was arranged to share the direction of provincial administration and discuss regional issues and major cooperation tasks. Particularly, the focus is on reflecting the voices of cities and counties in policies, discovering cooperative projects tailored to regional characteristics, and achieving substantial results.
In the first session on the first day, Ha Jeong-woo, former Secretary for AI Future of the Presidential Office, delivered a special lecture on 'Irreplaceable AI Strategy for the Republic of Korea and Growth Opportunities for Jeonbuk.' Based on his experience overseeing national AI policies, Ha explained global trends in the AI industry and national strategies, as well as presented response directions for Jeonbuk to lead in the field of physical AI.
In the subsequent policy discussions, responsible officials presented major policies and implementation strategies in core areas of the 9th local government administration such as tangible development, future industries, and tourism. The Governor, along with the 14 mayors and county executives, then shared opinions and policy proposals from the local field and deeply discussed specific cooperation plans.
Key points for discussion included: ▲Establishing an independent growth system where companies, capital, and talent grow together (tangible development) ▲Promoting advanced industries through linkage with Hyundai Motor's investment in Saemangeum (future industries) ▲Selecting and concentrating strategies to enhance Jeonbuk's tourism competitiveness (tourism). Various opinions were exchanged, and it was decided to strengthen cooperation between the province and cities/counties.
On the second day, the province plans to hold a meeting to discuss national budget securing strategies. They will share trends in government budget deliberations, review strategies for each stage of parliamentary deliberations, and discuss ways to promote cooperative projects between the province and cities/counties, as well as long-term large-scale projects. The plan is to actively explore projects that link regional issues with national policies and consolidate the capacity of the province and cities/counties in response to the parliament and central government agencies.
Governor Lee Wan-taek of Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province stated, "The 9th local government administration places citizen sovereignty, where residents become the main drivers of regional development, as a core direction." He emphasized, "To realize citizen sovereignty and leverage the region's strengths, communication and cooperation between the province and cities/counties are crucial."
전북자치도, 상생발전 정책 라운딩 개최
전북특별자치도가 민선 9기 출범 이후 처음으로 14개 시·군과 한자리에 모여 지역 상생발전과 체감성장을 위한 협력체계 구축에 나섰다.
도는 13일과 14일 1박 2일간 정읍 아우름캠퍼스에서 이원택 도지사를 비롯해 14개 시장·군수, 도 및 시·군 실·국장 등이 참석한 가운데 ‘민선 9기 도민주권 대전환 도-시군 상생발전 정책 라운딩’을 개최했다고 밝혔다.
이번 행사는 민선 9기 출범 이후 도와 14개 시군이 처음으로 한자리에 모이는 협력회의로, 도정 운영 방향을 공유하고 지역 현안과 주요 협력과제를 논의하기 위해 마련됐다. 특히 시·군의 현장 목소리를 정책에 반영하고 지역 특성에 맞는 협력사업을 발굴해 실질적인 성과를 만드는 데 중점을 둔다.
첫날 첫 세션에서는 하정우 전 대통령 비서실 AI미래수석비서관이 ‘대체 불가 대한민국을 위한 AI전략과 전북의 성장기회’를 주제로 특강을 진행했다. 하 전 수석은 국가 AI 정책을 총괄한 경험을 바탕으로 글로벌 AI 산업 흐름과 국가 전략을 설명하고, 전북이 피지컬 AI 분야를 선점하기 위한 대응 방향과 지역의 역할을 제시했다.
이어진 정책 논의에서는 체감성장·미래첨단·관광 등 민선9기 핵심 분야를 중심으로 담당 실국장이 분야별 주요 정책과 추진전략을 발표하고, 이후 도지사와 14개 시장·군수가 함께 지역 현장의 의견과 정책 제안을 나누며 구체적인 협력방안을 심도 있게 논의했다.

둘째 날인 14일에는 국가예산 확보 전략회의를 열 예정이다. 정부예산 심의 동향을 공유하고 국회 심의 단계별 대응전략을 점검하며, 도와 시·군 연계사업과 중장기 대규모 사업의 추진방안도 논의한다. 지역 현안과 국가정책을 연계한 사업을 적극 발굴하고 국회·중앙부처 대응에 도와 시·군의 역량을 결집할 방침이다.
이원택 전북특별자치도지사는 “민선 9기 도정은 도민이 지역 발전의 주체가 되는 도민주권을 핵심 방향으로 삼고 있다”며 “도민주권을 실현하고 지역의 강점을 살리기 위해서는 도와 시·군의 소통과 협력이 무엇보다 중요하다”고 말했다.
