Jeollabuk Special Self-Governing Province has concluded preliminary events for the successful hosting of the '2027 Seoul World Youth Day' Jeonju Diocese Conference.
Jeollabuk Special Self-Governing Province announced on the 17th that they successfully concluded the '2026 Jeonju Diocese Youth Day' held from the 15th to the 17th for 2 nights and 3 days at the Peace Hall of Chi-myeon, a sacred site, and various sacred and historical sites in the province, in collaboration with the organizing committee of the 2027 Seoul World Youth Day Jeonju Diocese Conference.
Under the theme 'You are all one in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:28),' the event brought together over 300 youths, pastors, volunteers, and others for fellowship, faith programs, pilgrimage to sacred sites, historical and cultural experiences.
This conference was organized as a preliminary event to prepare for the successful hosting of the Jeonju Diocese Conference ahead of the 2027 World Youth Day in Seoul. It aimed to introduce participants to the diverse cultural heritage of Jeollabuk Province through youth pilgrimage and exchange programs utilizing the province's religious, historical, and cultural resources, while also checking the actual event operation system including participant routes, accommodation, pilgrimage movements, and safety management.
On the first day, the participants engaged in fellowship programs, religious education, and a talk concert, followed by a time of bonding during the 'J.Y.D Night Out.'
On the 16th, participants divided into 6 pilgrimage courses visited 19 locations including sacred sites, churches, and shrines within the province and attended Mass at each pilgrimage site. As they moved through each pilgrimage site, participants reflected on the religious history and cultural significance of Jeollabuk Province and had time to interact with each other.
On the final day, the 17th, a program was held for participants to directly experience the historical and cultural resources of downtown Jeonju.
Participants embarked on a 'Jeonju Busungil Treasure Hunt Adventure,' exploring major historical and cultural resources in the Jeonju Hanok Village area such as Jeondong Cathedral, Pungnam Gate, and Jeolla Gamyoung. The cultural experience program allowed participants to learn about Jeonju's history and culture through walking and hands-on experiences, going beyond mere sightseeing.
The event concluded with a sending-off Mass, marking the end of the 2-night, 3-day schedule.
This youth conference laid the groundwork for the 2027 Seoul World Youth Day Jeonju Diocese Conference by confirming the potential to link Jeollabuk Province's sacred sites and historical and cultural resources with the World Youth Day, and conducting preliminary checks on participant movements, accommodation, program operation, and safety management.
‘2026 전주교구 청년대회’ 성료…청년 순례·교류로 2027 서울 세계청년대회 준비
전북특별자치도가 ‘2027 서울 세계청년대회’ 전주교구대회의 성공적인 개최를 위한 사전 행사를 마무리했다.
전북특별자치도는 2027 서울 세계청년대회 전주교구대회 조직위원회와 함께 지난 15일부터 17일까지 2박 3일간 치명자산성지 평화의 전당과 도내 성지·사적지 일원에서 개최한 ‘2026 전주교구 청년대회(Jeonju Youth Day)’를 성황리에 마쳤다고 17일 밝혔다.
‘여러분은 모두 그리스도 예수님 안에서 하나입니다(갈라티아서 3장 28절)’를 주제로 열린 이번 대회에는 청소년과 청년, 수도자, 봉사자 등 300여 명이 참여해 친교와 신앙 프로그램, 성지순례, 역사·문화체험 등을 함께했다.
이번 대회는 2027년 서울에서 열리는 세계청년대회를 앞두고 전주교구대회의 성공적인 개최를 준비하기 위한 사전 행사로 마련됐다. 특히 전북의 종교·역사·문화자원을 활용한 청년 순례와 교류 프로그램을 통해 참가자들에게 전북의 다양한 문화유산을 알리는 한편, 참가자 동선과 숙박, 성지순례 이동, 안전관리 등 실제 행사 운영체계를 점검하는 데 의미를 뒀다.
첫날인 15일에는 참가자들의 친교 프로그램을 시작으로 교리교육과 토크콘서트 등이 진행됐으며, ‘J.Y.D 야행(夜行)’을 통해 참가자들이 함께 어울리는 시간을 가졌다.
16일에는 참가자들이 6개 순례 코스로 나뉘어 도내 성지와 성당, 공소 등 19곳을 찾아 순례하고 코스별 성지미사에 참여했다. 참가자들은 각 순례지를 이동하며 전북의 종교적 역사와 문화적 의미를 되새기고 서로 교류하는 시간을 가졌다.
대회 마지막 날인 17일에는 전주 도심의 역사·문화자원을 직접 체험하는 프로그램이 펼쳐졌다.
참가자들은 ‘전주 부성길 보물찾기 대탐험’을 통해 전동성당과 풍남문, 전라감영 등 전주한옥마을 일원의 주요 역사·문화자원을 둘러보며 미션을 수행했다. 단순한 관광을 넘어 참가자들이 직접 걷고 체험하는 방식으로 전주의 역사와 문화를 알아가는 문화체험 프로그램으로 진행됐다.
이후 참가자들은 파견미사를 끝으로 2박 3일간의 일정을 마무리했다.
이번 청년대회는 전북의 성지와 역사·문화자원을 세계청년대회와 연계할 수 있는 가능성을 확인하고, 실제 참가자들의 이동과 숙박, 프로그램 운영 및 안전관리 등을 사전 점검했다는 점에서 향후 2027 서울 세계청년대회 전주교구대회의 준비 기반을 마련했다는 평가다.
