The special exhibition 'Picasso Ceramics: The Summer of Vallauris' being held at the Jeonbuk Provincial Museum (curated by Lee Ae-sun) has surpassed 20,000 cumulative visitors one month after its opening.
As of August 13, a month after the opening on July 10, the total number of visitors to the main exhibition hall reached 20,008, with an average of about 667 visitors per day. Even on weekends, around 1,000 visitors have consistently visited the museum, indicating that the initial interest from the opening has been sustained until now.
'Picasso Ceramics: The Summer of Vallauris' introduces Picasso's sculptural world expanded into ceramics from painting, printmaking, and sculpture through 97 pieces of Picasso ceramics and related archives from the collection of Lee Geon-hee at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. Visitors can explore various sculptural experiments utilizing the surface and form of ceramics, as well as four themes repeatedly addressed by Picasso such as bullfighting, figures, and animals, starting from the ceramic works initiated at the Madoura workshop in Vallauris, southern France, in four exhibition halls.
전북에서 만난 피카소, 한 달 만에 관람객 2만명
전북도립미술관(관장 이애선)에서 개최 중인 특별전 ‘피카소 도예: 발로리스의 여름’이 개막 한 달여 만에 누적 관람객 2만 명을 넘어섰다.
지난 7월 10일 개막 이후 8월 13일 기준 본관 누적 관람객은 20,008명으로, 관람일 기준 하루 평균 약 667명이 미술관을 방문했다. 주말에도 1천 명 안팎의 관람객이 꾸준히 찾고 있어, 개막 초기의 관심이 한 달이 지난 현재까지 지속되고 있다.
‘피카소 도예: 발로리스의 여름’은 국립현대미술관 소장 이건희컬렉션 가운데 피카소 도예 97점과 관련 아카이브를 통해 회화·판화·조각에서 도예로 확장된 피카소의 조형세계를 소개한다. 남프랑스 발로리스의 마두라 공방에서 시작된 도예 작업을 비롯해, 도자의 표면과 형태를 활용한 다양한 조형 실험과 투우·인물·동물 등 피카소가 반복해 다룬 주제를 네 개의 전시실에서 만나볼 수 있다.
