North Jeolla Province is promoting itself as the "birthplace of the founding of the Joseon Dynasty" by connecting historical relics related to King Taejo Lee Seong-gye within the province and actively engaging in promoting immersive historical tourism.
The North Jeolla Province announced that it will officially launch the "2026 Taejo Lee Seong-gye Relic Site Historical Exploration Project" connecting major historical sites in Jeonju, Namwon, Jinan, and Imsil starting in August. This year, based on the experiences from previous explorations and photo exhibitions, they will also introduce paid tourism packages for general tourists for the first time.
The program will be expanded to a total of 16 sessions, including 5 sessions for influencers and foreign residents in South Korea, 5 sessions for paid 1-night-2-day tours for general tourists, and 6 sessions for day tours. The paid packages will be sold through online channels such as Naver Smart Store.
In particular, they have prepared contents that combine cultural arts, traditional experiences, missions, and historical relic visits. Representative programs include "Jeonju Hanok Village Hat Tour," where participants wear traditional hats and explore Hanok villages, a detective program exploring Joseon Dynasty cultural heritage using QR codes, and performances combining the history of the Hwangsan Battle with pansori (traditional narrative singing) and traditional music.
They will also integrate local specialized tourism resources such as the Hwangsan Battle Monument in Namwon, Eunsusa Temple in Jinan, Sangiiam in Seongsusan in Imsil, woodblock printing, Namboo Market night market, and Imsil Cheese Experience along with major historical relics.
Park Dong-woo, Director of the Culture, Sports, and Tourism Department of North Jeolla Province, stated, "The historical relics related to King Taejo Lee Seong-gye are a unique tourism resource exclusive to North Jeolla Province," and mentioned, "Through paid packages and unique contents, we will establish competitive immersive historical tourism."
전북, 태조 이성계 유적 잇는 체류형 역사관광 본격화

전북특별자치도가 도내 태조 이성계 관련 역사유적을 연계해 전북을 ‘조선 건국의 본향’으로 알리고 체류형 역사관광 활성화에 나선다.
전북자치도는 전주·남원·진안·임실 등 주요 유적지를 잇는 ‘2026년 태조 이성계 유적지 역사탐방 사업’을 8월부터 본격 추진한다고 밝혔다. 올해는 기존 탐방과 사진전 등 사업 경험을 바탕으로 일반 관광객 대상 유료 관광상품도 처음 선보인다.
프로그램은 총 16회로 확대된다. 인플루언서와 주한 외국인 대상 5회, 일반 관광객 대상 1박2일 유료투어 5회, 당일형 유료투어 6회 등으로 구성된다. 유료상품은 네이버 스마트스토어 등 온라인 채널을 통해 판매할 예정이다.
특히 역사유적 관람에 문화예술과 전통체험, 미션 등을 결합한 콘텐츠를 마련했다. 전통 갓을 쓰고 한옥마을을 둘러보는 ‘전주 한옥마을 갓투어’, QR코드로 조선왕조 문화유산을 탐험하는 추리 프로그램, 황산대첩 역사와 판소리·국악을 결합한 공연 등이 대표적이다.
남원 황산대첩비지, 진안 마이산 은수사, 임실 성수산 상이암 등 주요 유적과 함께 완판본 목판 인쇄, 남부시장 야시장, 임실치즈 체험 등 지역 특화 관광자원도 연계한다.
박동우 전북자치도 문화체육관광국장은 “태조 이성계 역사유적은 전북만의 독보적인 관광자원”이라며 “유료상품화와 이색 콘텐츠를 통해 경쟁력 있는 체류형 역사관광으로 정착시키겠다”고 말했다.
