The reigning champions of the '2025 Hana Bank Korea Cup', Jeonbuk Hyundai, will kick off their quest for another title in the newly revamped '2026-27 Hana Bank Korea Cup' starting on the 19th to lift the trophy once again.

Jeonbuk Hyundai will face Dangjin Citizen FC, who are active in the K3 League, in the round of 16 of the Korea Cup at Jeonju World Cup Stadium at 7 p.m. on the 19th.

With a schedule of playing seven games in August, player rotations are expected for managing fitness, but new recruits and returning from injury players are poised to showcase sharpness in the attacking line.

In particular, Thiago, who suffered an injury during a practice match in June, has completed his warm-up for a return to the field, raising expectations for his participation in the match.

지난해 ‘2025 하나은행 코리아컵(이하 코리아컵)’ 챔피언 전북현대는 새롭게 춘추제로 변경된 ‘2026-27 하나은행 코리아컵’에서도 우승 트로피를 들어올리기 위해 오는 19일 대장정을 시작한다.

전북현대는 19일 오후 7시 전주월드컵경기장에서 K3리그 무대에서 활약하고 있는 당진시민축구단과 코리아컵 16강전을 치른다.

코리아컵은 2023년까지 이라는 대회 명칭이 사용되었으나, 대한민국의 축구대회라는 것을 강조하고 잉글랜드의 FA컵과 구별하기 위해 2024년부터 <코리아컵>으로 명칭이 변경됐다.

이번 시즌 코리아컵 첫 상대인 당진시민축구단은 전북현대 N팀이 참가한 K3리그에서 5위에 랭크된 팀으로 공격력이 뛰어난 팀으로 알려져 있다.

순위는 5위지만 18라운드를 치르는 동안 35득점을 기록하며 득점 부문에서는 리그에서 1위를 달리고 있다.

전북현대는 이에 맞서 방심하지 않고 오랜 시간 홈 승리가 없는 만큼 후반기 홈 승리의 축포를 이날 터트리겠다는 각오다.

8월 한 달 동안 7경기를 치르는 스케줄로 체력 안배를 위해 출전 선수의 로테이션이 예측되나 새롭게 합류한 선수와 부상 복귀 선수들이 출전을 대기 하고 있어 공격진에서는 날카로움을 선보일 것으로 보인다.

특히 지난 6월 연습경기 중 부상으로 이탈했던 티아고가 그라운드 복귀를 위한 예열을 마치고 있어 이날 출전에 대한 기대를 모으고 있다.

한편, 이날 경기에서 승리 시 8강전은 추첨을 통해 대진이 결정되고 경기는 이듬해 개최될 예정이다.
