An exhibition questioning the existence of 'self' for modern individuals who are pressured to present a 'likable image' in the midst of daily life centered around social media and the evaluations of others is being held. The 3rd solo exhibition of artist Jeong Ji-hee, <‘_’>, will take place from the 18th to the 23rd at the Seohak-dong Photo Art Museum in Jeonju.
The artist focuses on the existential crisis of modern individuals who have lost control of their own selves by conforming to societal trends and emotions. Breaking away from the reality where subjective evaluations of others define one's existence, the exhibition proposes to observe the independent individual as they are.
The main keywords of this exhibition are 'expressionless' and 'personal object.' The expressionless faces captured with a film camera signify not the absence of emotions but blocking external gazes and maintaining a state of balance in one's existence. By adding personal objects that validate the individual's unique narrative, the exhibition leads viewers to accept one's personal world and existence beyond expressions or appearances.
Jeong Ji-hee, who graduated from Jeonju Arts High School and Jeonbuk National University majoring in Western painting, has been actively engaged in artistic activities using photography, starting from the photo book 'Capturing a Girl in Gaze' (2014) to 'Collecting Dreams' (2024), 'Sharp Blade' (2025), and more.
This exhibition, where one can confront their unique inner self away from the gaze of others, is sponsored by the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Cultural Tourism Foundation's '2026 Cultural and Arts Promotion Support Project.'

SNS 중심의 일상과 타인의 평가 속에서 '타인이 좋아할 모습'을 강요받는 현대인에게 '나'의 실존을 묻는 전시가 열린다. 정지희 작가의 제3회 개인전 < ‘_’ >이 18일부터 23일까지 전주 서학동사진미술관에서 펼쳐진다.
작가는 사회적 트렌드와 감정에 자신을 맞추느라 자아의 주도권을 잃어버린 현대인의 실존적 위기에 주목한다. 타인의 주관적 평가가 한 사람의 존재를 규정해버리는 현실에서 벗어나, 독립된 개인을 있는 그대로 응시하자고 제안한다.
이번 전시의 주요 키워드는 ‘무표정’과 ‘사적 오브제’다. 필름 카메라로 담아낸 인물의 무표정은 감정의 부재가 아닌 외부 시선을 차단하고 자신으로 존재하는 평형상태를 뜻한다. 여기에 인물 고유의 서사를 증명하는 사적 오브제를 더해, 표정이나 외견을 넘어 한 사람의 사적인 세계와 실존을 가감 없이 수용하도록 이끈다.
전주예술고와 전북대 미술학과(서양화)를 졸업한 정지희 작가는 사진집 ‘시선에 소녀를 담다’(2014)를 시작으로 ‘꿈수집’(2024), ‘단정한 칼날’(2025) 등 사진을 매개로 한 활발한 작품 활동을 이어오고 있다.
타인의 시선에서 벗어나 고유한 내면을 직시할 수 있는 이번 전시는 전북특별자치도문화관광재단의 ‘2026년 문화예술육성지원사업’ 후원으로 진행된다.
