"From Your Warmth... Paraffin 180x250x50cm 2026"
The 'Jeonbuk Youth 2026' exhibition, organized by the Jeonbuk Provincial Art Museum (Director Lee Ae-sun), opened on the 13th and will be held at the Seoul branch until September 13th. This year, the selected artists are Kim Gyu-ri and Jo Min-ji.
'Jeonbuk Youth' is a representative youth artist support project of the Jeonbuk Provincial Art Museum that has been ongoing since 2015, and this year marks its 12th edition. Every year, it has provided selected young artists with creation support funds and subsequent support such as critic matching through open calls. This year, the exhibition venue was set as the Seoul branch to coincide with the major domestic and international art fair 'Kiaf-Frieze', actively promoting the expansion of young artists into the metropolitan area and the global art network.
This exhibition highlights the works of two artists who seek to give form to things disappearing in today's conditions where the place to stay and the accumulated time are easily erased.
Kim Gyu-ri combines photography and set staging to realize the narrative of dreams in actual space. His photographs, which look like digital compositions, are actual scenes shot by the artist himself by creating physical objects and sets. Based on the experience of not having a stable place due to frequent moving, he collected socially accepted dream images and interpretations to construct images of a sanctuary that has never existed before. In this exhibition, he exhibits major photographic series such as "The Night That Was Not Named" (2026), composed of fabric print backgrounds and layered boxes, along with "The Night Held by the Forest" and "As If Remembering That Place".
Jo Min-ji gives shape to immaterial time through labor-intensive works such as knitting and paraffin. The installation work "Calling Each Other's Existence Flowing in the Landscape" (2026), combining metallic yarn, PLA, and mirrors, places mirrors in a knitting structure where one stitch follows the next, drawing the viewer's reflection into the artwork. "From Your Warmth..." (2026), made of melted paraffin poured and solidified repeatedly in a mold, is another installation work by the artist.
전북도립미술관 ‘전북청년 2026’전…다음달 13일까지 서울분관서 열려

전북도립미술관(관장 이애선)이 개최한 ‘전북청년 2026’전이 지난 13일 개막, 9월 13일까지 서울분관에서 열린다. 올해 선정 작가는 김규리와 조민지 두 사람이다.
‘전북청년’은 2015년부터 이어져 온 전북도립미술관의 대표적인 청년작가 지원 사업으로, 올해 12회차를 맞이한다. 매년 공모로 선정된 청년작가에게 창작지원금과 비평가 매칭 등의 후속 지원을 제공해 왔다. 올해는 국내외 주요 아트페어인 '키아프-프리즈(Kiaf-Frieze)' 기간에 맞춰 전시 장소를 서울분관으로 정해, 청년 작가들의 수도권 진출 및 글로벌 미술계 네트워크 확장을 적극 도모한다.
이번 전시는 머무를 곳도, 쌓아 올린 시간도 쉽게 지워지는 오늘의 조건 속에서 사라지는 것에 형태를 부여하려는 두 작가의 작업을 조명한다.
김규리는 사진과 세트 연출을 결합해 태몽의 서사를 실제 공간으로 구현한다. 디지털 합성처럼 보이는 그의 사진은 작가가 실물 오브제와 세트를 직접 제작해 촬영한 실제 장면이다. 잦은 이사로 정주할 공간이 없던 경험을 바탕으로, 사회적으로 통용되는 꿈의 이미지와 해석을 수집해, 한 번도 실재하지 않았던 안식처의 이미지를 구성했다. 이번 전시에서는 원단 프린트 배경과 레이어박스로 구성한 가변설치 신작 〈이름이 불리지 않은 밤〉(2026)을 비롯해 〈숲이 품고 있던 밤〉, 〈그곳을 기억하고 있다는 듯이〉 등 주요 사진 연작을 출품한다.
조민지는 뜨개질과 파라핀 등 오랜 시간이 소요되는 수작업을 통해 비물질적인 시간에 형태를 부여한다. 메탈릭사와 PLA, 거울을 결합한 설치 작업 〈풍경에서 흐르는 서로의 존재를 부를 때〉(2026)는 한 코가 다음 코를 붙드는 뜨개 구조에 거울을 배치해 관람자의 모습을 작품 안으로 끌어들인다. 파라핀으로 제작한 〈당신의 온기로부터…〉(2026)는 녹인 파라핀을 틀에 부어 굳히는 과정을 반복해 만든 설치 작업이다.
