The National Gugak Center held a graduation presentation at 3 p.m. on the 22nd at the Jirisan Theater in Namwon City, marking the conclusion of the summer vacation youth traditional music course, "Tintin Changgeuk Classroom."
The "Tintin Changgeuk Classroom" was an experiential traditional music education program where elementary school students learned Pansori (traditional Korean narrative song) and Changgeuk (Korean traditional opera) and performed on stage. The program ran from August 5th (Wednesday) to the 22nd (Saturday).
During the graduation presentation, the students showcased a fusion of the main scenes from Pansori classics such as Chunhyangga, Heungboga, Sugungga, and Simcheongga into a single Changgeuk performance. Throughout the educational process, the participating students learned vocalization, breathing techniques, rhythm, and gradually progressed to learning sound, lines, role-specific scenes, and stage movements according to their assigned roles, culminating in their experience of performing Changgeuk on stage.
In this program, seniors who majored in traditional music in high school after completing the "Tintin Changgeuk Classroom" participated as mentors, adding significance to the event. The senior mentors practiced sound and prepared the stage with their juniors, shared their experiences, and continued intergenerational learning and growth through traditional music.
An official from the National Gugak Center stated, "The 'Tintin Changgeuk Classroom' program receives a lot of attention each time it recruits participants," and expressed hope for "continued interest from children and parents as we plan to operate it during the winter vacation as well."
국립민속국악원, 어린이들이 완성한 창극 무대 선보여
국립민속국악원은 22일 오후 3시 남원시 지리산소극장에서 수료발표회를 열고, 여름방학 청소년 국악강좌 〈틴틴창극교실〉을 마무리했다.
〈틴틴창극교실〉은 초등학생들이 판소리와 창극을 배우고 직접 무대에 오르는 체험형 국악교육 프로그램으로, 8월 5일(수)부터 22일(토)까지 운영됐다.
수료발표회에서는 판소리 주요 바탕인 춘향가·흥보가·수궁가·심청가의 눈대목을 하나의 창극으로 엮어 선보였다. 참가 학생들은 교육 과정에서 발성·호흡과 장단을 익히고, 각자 맡은 배역에 따라 소리와 대사, 역할별 장면 구성과 무대 동선까지 단계적으로 배우며 창극이 무대에 오르기까지의 과정을 직접 경험했다.
이번 교육에는 〈틴틴창극교실〉을 수료한 뒤 현재 고등학교에서 국악을 전공하는 선배들이 멘토로 참여해 의미를 더했다. 선배 멘토들은 후배들과 함께 소리를 익히고 무대를 준비하며 자신의 경험을 나눴고, 국악을 매개로 세대 간 배움과 성장을 이어갔다.
국립민속국악원 관계자는 “〈틴틴창극교실〉은 모집 때마다 많은 관심을 받는 프로그램”이라며 “겨울방학에도 운영할 예정인 만큼 어린이와 학부모들의 지속적인 관심을 바란다”고 밝혔다.
