City gas bill, additional burden of 279-574 won per month for a 4-person household

North Jeolla Special Self-Governing Province announced on the 28th that the retail price of city gas for residential use in the province will increase by an average of 9.66% starting from September 1st.

With this increase, for a 4-person household using 50 cubic meters per month, the additional monthly burden on average will be 437 won for Jeonbuk City Gas (from 48,655 won to 49,102 won), 574 won for Gunsan City Gas (from 48,635 won to 49,209 won), and 279 won for Jeonbuk Energy Service (from 51,288 won to 51,567 won).

For industrial use, Jeonbuk City Gas will increase by 4.74 won per cubic meter (from 958.48 won to 963.22 won), Gunsan City Gas by 14.28 won (from 833.99 won to 976.80 won), and Jeonbuk Energy Service by 5.5 won (from 1,025.54 won to 1,031.04 won).

This adjustment reflects the increase in labor costs, expansion of investment in rural pipeline networks, settlement of sales heat content fees, and other cost increases. The province determined the supply cost at a level that minimizes the extent of the increase while considering the burden on residents, following cost estimation by external professional organizations and deliberation by relevant committees.

City gas consumer fees are calculated by combining the wholesale rates of Korea Gas Corporation and the retail supply costs of city gas companies. Wholesale rates account for approximately 90.5% of the total fee, while retail supply costs make up about 9.5%. The wholesale rates are announced monthly by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, while the retail supply costs are calculated annually by the governor after external professional organizations estimate the costs.
