The Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province National Music Institute is gearing up for operations in the second half of the year, focusing on regular, permanent, and special performances. The plan is to clearly showcase the identity of each artistic group, securing both public and artistic aspects through continuous interactions with the audience.
The curtain will rise with the Changgeuk (traditional Korean opera) troupe (Artistic Director Kim Cha-kyung). On September 5th, at the Namwon Chunhyang Cultural Arts Center, and on the 11th and 12th at the Korea Sound Culture Center Moak Hall, they will stage the 59th regular performance, "Her Name, Chunhyang." Departing from the familiar narrative of a devoted woman, the performance will shed light on Chunhyang's love and choices as a complex human being.
The Dance troupe (Artistic Director Park Ki-ryang) will present a regular performance at Moak Hall on October 31st. They plan to emphasize a unique color by reconstructing the rhythm and form of traditional dance into a modern language. Prior to this, on October 25th, they will be invited to the National Theater's "Korean Traditional Dance Festival" to present a new work based on farming music and shamanic music, titled "Jimaekdongcheon."
The Thursday regular performances, which receive a great response with high-density stages, will be held at Myeongin Hall from September 17th to November 26th, spanning a total of 5 performances. Notable performances include the two short Changgeuk plays, "Soripan (PAN), Doublepun (FUN)" (October 15th), and "Yeon-yeon (Connection)" featuring three artistic groups and outstanding local organizations in a joint performance (November 5th).
On December 17th, the year-end grand feast of Korean traditional music, "Year-end Gugak Grand Banquet," showcasing the collective capabilities of all artistic groups, will take place at Moak Hall. In addition, events such as the Kimje Horizon Festival, celebrations for Provincial Citizens' Day, and performances visiting cities and counties are scheduled to continue to connect with residents across all 14 cities and counties.
전북도립국악원, 정기·상설·기획 무대로 하반기 물들인다
전북특별자치도립국악원이 정기·상설·기획공연을 중심으로 하반기 운영에 나선다. 각 예술단의 정체성을 명확히 드러내고, 관객과의 지속적인 만남을 통해 공공성과 예술성을 동시에 확보한다는 구상이다.
포문은 창극단(예술감독 김차경)이 연다. 오는 9월 5일 남원춘향문화예술회관, 11~12일 한국소리문화의전당 모악당에서 제59회 정기공연 <그 이름, 춘향>을 무대에 올린다. 익숙한 열녀 서사에서 벗어나 한 인간으로서 춘향의 사랑과 선택을 입체적으로 조명한다.
무용단(예술감독 박기량)은 10월 31일 모악당에서 정기공연을 선보인다. 전통춤의 장단과 형식을 현대적 언어로 재구성해 독창적인 색깔을 강조할 계획이다. 이에 앞서 10월 25일에는 국립극장 '대한민국 전통춤축제'에 초청돼 농악과 무속장단 기반의 신작 <지맥동천>을 선보인다.
밀도 높은 무대로 호응을 얻는 목요상설공연은 9월 17일부터 11월 26일까지 총 5회에 걸쳐 명인홀에서 열린다. 두 편의 단막 창극으로 꾸려지는 <소리판(PAN), 더블펀(FUN)>(10월 15일)과 3개 예술단 및 지역 우수 단체가 합동으로 꾸미는 <연연(連緣)>(11월 5일)이 대표적이다.
연말인 12월 17일에는 모악당에서 예술단 전체 역량을 집결한 <송년국악큰잔치>가 펼쳐진다. 이 외에도 김제 지평선축제, 도민의 날 기념공연, 시군 찾아가는 공연 등을 통해 14개 시군 전역에서 도민들과 만남을 이어갈 예정이다.
