Jeonju City is operating a tailored education program to enable citizens to practice urban agriculture in their daily lives.
The Jeonju Agricultural Technology Center (Director No Eun-young) announced on the 1st that they will be conducting the "10th Session of the 2026 Urban Agriculture Basic Course" for 18 Jeonju citizens interested in urban agriculture over a total of 8 sessions (30 hours) until October 20.
Celebrating its 10th session this year, the Urban Agriculture Basic Course has produced a total of 219 graduates, contributing to the solid foundation of urban agriculture within the region.
This course has been designed to enhance citizens' understanding of agriculture and develop basic skills to practice urban agriculture in their daily lives through fundamental education necessary for urban farming activities. The education program consists of 25 hours of theory and 5 hours of practical training.
Specifically, starting with the first session titled "Understanding Urban Agriculture," future sessions will cover various topics sequentially, including basic cultivation of rooftop crops, understanding eco-friendly agriculture, field trips and experiences at healing farms, designing urban garden plots, urban agriculture in daily life and carbon neutrality, understanding and managing companion plants, and experiencing urban agriculture programs.
This year's education program is characterized by going beyond crop cultivation-focused basic education to understanding the various functions and values of urban agriculture such as healing agriculture, carbon neutrality, rooftop gardens, and companion plants. Additionally, through field trips to healing farms and experiencing urban agriculture programs, participants can easily understand urban agriculture and utilize it in their daily lives.
Participants who complete over 80% of the total education time, which is 24 hours or more, will receive a certificate of completion. Graduates will also receive preferential treatment when applying for future urban agriculture expert courses.
도시농업 기초과정으로 ‘도시에서 농부의 꿈을 키워요’
전주시가 시민들이 생활 속에서 도시농업을 실천할 수 있도록 맞춤형 교육과정을 운영한다.
전주시농업기술센터(소장 노은영)가 오는 10월 20일까지 총 8회(30시간)에 걸쳐 도시농업에 관심 있는 전주시민 18명을 대상으로 ‘제10기 2026년 도시농업 기초과정’을 운영한다고 1일 밝혔다.
올해로 10기를 맞이한 도시농업 기초과정은 그동안 총 219명의 수료생을 배출하며 지역 내 탄탄한 도시농업 저변을 다져오고 있다.
이번 과정은 도시농업 활동에 필요한 기초교육을 통해 시민들의 농업에 대한 이해를 높이고, 생활 속에서 도시농업을 실천할 수 있는 기초 역량을 키우기 위해 마련됐다. 교육은 이론 25시간과 실습 5시간으로 구성됐다.
구체적으로 이날 열린 첫 번째 교육 ‘도시농업의 이해’를 시작으로, 앞으로 △텃밭 작물 재배 기초 △친환경 농업의 이해 △치유 농장 현장 견학 및 체험 △도심 속 텃밭 정원 디자인 △일상 속 도시농업과 탄소중립 △반려 식물의 이해 및 관리 방법 △도시농업 프로그램 체험 등 다양한 교육이 순차적으로 이어진다.
특히 올해 교육은 작물 재배기술 중심의 기초교육에서 한층 더 나아가, 치유농업과 탄소중립, 텃밭정원, 반려식물 등 도시농업의 다양한 기능과 가치를 함께 이해할 수 있도록 구성된 것이 특징이다. 또, 교육생들은 치유 농장 현장 견학과 도시농업 프로그램 체험 등 현장 중심의 교육을 통해 도시농업을 보다 쉽게 이해하고 생활 속에서 활용할 수 있게 됐다.
교육생은 전체 교육시간의 80% 이상인 24시간 이상을 이수하면 수료증을 받을 수 있으며, 수료자에게는 향후 도시농업 전문가 과정 교육생 선발 시 우대 혜택이 주어진다.
