Former legal counsel A, who worked at the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Office of Education, has been handed over to the prosecution on charges of sexually harassing a female employee in his office.
According to Jeonbuk Gunsan Police Station, former legal counsel A, who was accused of sexual harassment, was sent to the prosecution on July 7 without detention.
A is accused of engaging in physical contact against the will of a female employee working at his law office, such as touching her cheeks and shoulders around March of this year.
The incident began when the employee who claimed to be a victim filed a criminal complaint in March, leading to an investigation. The case was divided into two separate incidents, with one being sent to the prosecution earlier last month. The other case was initially decided by the police not to be sent to prosecution, but after the complainant raised objections, a reinvestigation was conducted, leading to its subsequent referral.
A denied the allegations in response to media inquiries, stating, "I only lightly brushed off something on the other person's cheek with my finger because it seemed dirty at the time," and claimed that the allegations were not true. He further mentioned plans to submit evidence, such as recorded conversations, to support his claims during the upcoming prosecution process.
A police official explained that both cases were referred to the prosecution after securing relevant statements and evidence, and further decisions would be made by the prosecution. A is known to have worked as a legal counsel specializing in education rights at the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Office of Education, providing legal advice and litigation support for cases involving infringement of teachers' educational activities. The case is currently in the prosecution's investigation stage, and the final decision on indictment and confirmation of the charges will be determined through further investigation and trial proceedings.

전북특별자치도교육청에서 활동했던 전직 교권전담변호사 A씨가 자신의 사무실 여직원을 추행했다는 혐의로 검찰에 넘겨졌다.
전북 군산경찰서는 강제추행 혐의로 고소된 전직 교권전담변호사 A씨를 지난 7일 검찰에 불구속 송치했다고 밝혔다.
경찰에 따르면 A씨는 올해 3월경 자신이 운영하는 변호사 사무실에서 근무하는 여직원의 볼이나 어깨 등을 만지는 등 상대방의 의사에 반하는 신체 접촉을 한 혐의를 받는다.
이번 사건은 피해를 당했다고 주장하는 직원이 지난 3월 고소장을 접수하면서 수사가 시작됐다. 사건은 두 건으로 나뉘어 진행됐는데, 이 중 한 건은 지난달 초 검찰에 송치됐다. 나머지 한 건은 경찰이 애초 불송치 결정을 내렸으나, 고소인이 이의를 제기하면서 재수사가 이뤄졌고 이후 추가로 송치됐다.
A씨는 언론 취재에 응해 혐의를 전면 부인했다. A씨는 "당시 상대방의 볼에 무언가 묻어 있어 손가락으로 살짝 스치듯 닦아준 것일 뿐"이라며 "제기된 혐의 내용은 사실과 다르다"고 주장했다. 그는 이어 향후 검찰 조사 과정에서 자신의 주장을 뒷받침할 녹취록 등 증거자료를 제출할 계획이라고 밝혔다.
경찰 관계자는 두 사건 모두 관련 진술과 증거를 확보해 검찰에 송치했으며, 향후 판단은 검찰 몫이라고 설명했다. A씨는 전북특별자치도교육청에서 교권전담변호사로 근무하며 교원의 교육활동 침해 사안에 대한 법률 상담과 소송 지원 업무를 담당한 이력이 있는 것으로 알려졌다. 사건은 현재 검찰 수사 단계에 있으며, 최종 기소 여부와 혐의 사실 확정 여부는 추후 수사와 재판 절차를 통해 가려질 전망이다.
