The Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education announced on the 17th that they are conducting safety inspections of children's play facilities in the first half of the year ahead of the 2026 new semester.
This inspection targets a total of 1,042 kindergartens, elementary schools, special schools, and public facilities in the province and will be carried out throughout the month of February. The main focus of the inspections is on enhancing accident prevention during vulnerable periods, establishing a rapid reporting system, eliminating risk factors, and managing aging or faulty play facilities to prevent incidents and ensure safety in advance.
For minor issues identified during the inspections, immediate improvements will be made by March before the start of the new semester, while issues requiring more time for resolution will be promptly addressed in cooperation with the educational support office.
Previously, in the safety inspections conducted in 2025, the Provincial Office of Education had completed all corrective measures for the 92 facilities identified for improvement.
Jang Gyeong-dan, the head of school safety, stated, "March, when the new semester begins, is a time when safety incidents increase," adding, "We will thoroughly complete facility maintenance before the start of the semester to create a safe environment where children can play and have fun without worries."

전북교육청은 2026년 신학기를 앞두고 상반기 어린이놀이시설 안전 점검을 실시하고 있다고 17일 밝혔다.
이번 점검은 도내 국·공·사립 유치원과 초등학교, 특수학교 등 1,042개소를 대상으로 2월 한 달간 진행된다. 안전 취약 시기 사고 예방 강화, 신속 보고 체계 확립과 위험 요인 제거, 노후·불량 놀이시설 중점 관리 등을 중심으로 점검해 위험 요소를 사전에 차단하고 재발을 방지하는 데 목적이 있다.
점검 결과 단순 조치 사항은 3월 개학 전까지 즉시 개선하고, 단기간 조치가 어려운 사안은 교육지원청과 협력해 조속히 보완할 계획이다.
앞서 도교육청은 2025년 안전 점검에서 지적된 92개 시설에 대한 시정 조치를 모두 완료했다.
장경단 학교안전과장은 “신학기가 시작되는 3월은 안전사고가 급증하는 시기”라며 “개학 전까지 시설물 정비를 철저히 마무리해 아이들이 안심하고 뛰어놀 수 있는 환경을 조성하겠다”고 말했다.
