On the 16th, Jeonju City announced that it is operating a mutual borrowing service called 'Omsho Gamsho' at a total of 41 institutions, including 12 municipal libraries, 28 public small libraries, and the Innovation City Complex Cultural Center, to enhance the convenience of citizens' reading.
'Omsho Gamsho' is a service that allows citizens to borrow and return books at nearby libraries even if the desired book is at a different library. Citizens can receive books from the requested library without the burden of moving, leading to a steady increase in usage.
In fact, over the past year, a total of 692,000 books were borrowed through this service, averaging 2,840 books per day.
To use the service, citizens can sign up on the Jeonju Library website (lib.jeonju.go.kr) and apply through the 'Book Search' menu, with a maximum of 3 books per person.
Lee Young-seop, Director of the Jeonju City Library and Lifelong Learning Division, stated, "The Omsho Gamsho mutual borrowing service is a system designed to allow citizens to use library resources more conveniently," adding, "We will continue to expand citizen-centered library services in the future."
전주시, 41개 도서관 통합 상호대차 ‘옴서감서’ 운영…하루 평균 2,840권 이용
전주시는 시민들의 독서 편의를 높이기 위해 시립도서관 12곳과 공립 작은도서관 28곳, 혁신도시복합문화센터 등 총 41개 기관에서 상호대차 서비스 ‘옴書감書’를 운영하고 있다고 16일 밝혔다.
‘옴서감서’는 원하는 책이 다른 도서관에 있더라도 가까운 도서관에서 대출·반납할 수 있도록 지원하는 서비스다. 시민들은 이동 부담 없이 신청 도서관에서 책을 받아볼 수 있어 이용이 꾸준히 증가하고 있다.
실제로 지난해 한 해 동안 이 서비스를 통해 대출된 도서는 69만2,000여 권으로, 하루 평균 2,840권에 달한다.
서비스 이용은 전주도서관 누리집(lib.jeonju.go.kr)에서 회원가입 후 ‘도서검색’ 메뉴를 통해 신청할 수 있으며, 1인당 최대 3권까지 가능하다.
이영섭 전주시 도서관평생학습본부장은 “옴서감서 상호대차 서비스는 시민들이 도서관 자료를 더욱 편리하게 이용할 수 있도록 마련된 제도”라며 “앞으로도 시민 중심의 도서관 서비스를 지속 확대하겠다”고 말했다.
